This is very true with big tech firms like Amazon and others, who routinely like to give full-time offers to interns. This is because observing the candidate over a 2-3 month internship is much better than making a hiring decision after a few rounds of interviews. (2) For the small number of people who want to enroll in research focused programs (PhDs and research-focused Masters) after their undergrad, building your research profile from one internship to the next is very critical so that you make a strong case for your research interests in your applications. Also, each of your internships will help you secure a recommendation letter for your applications as well.
