One thing I appreciated about "The Prom Pact" was that the best friends didn't end up together, but stayed platonic throughout. Since Disney has a history of pairing their leads together romantically, this was a refreshing change.
Right and that makes me more mad bc of what they did to The Owl House bc that show "didn't fit the brand." Then they turn it around and have someone say "P in the V." Make it make sense
Is it just me or do all Disney films with female leads involve double-crossing your friends and being a shitty person, and ones with male leads are all about sports and/or finding yourself?
The Prom Pact isn't a Disney Channel original movie. It was a Disney Plus original, but an edited version aired on Disney Channel a day before it streaming release
I get that it's nice that they can be guy/girl best friends and not end up together, but like ben and mandy have SO much more chemistry with each other than with their love interests it actually bothered me that they didn't lol (I later found out that they played love interests in another show and that explained a lot)
That's how I remember it too. The only thing the characters would do is kiss. They ever even alluded to sex. dcoms also never showed teenage drinking but this movie does and at the party one of the characters says that most people are too wasted and won't show up to the gardening event planned the next day. I am having a really hard time picturing this movie airing on the Disney channel in its entirety. the
So when they aired it on DC, they actually edited out the profanity, suggestive jokes, and alcohol. But the Disney plus version was not censored… kind of crazy
Ben & Kyle's interaction is the EXACT scene that was recommended to me on Instagram that made me watch it because I needed to see if the rest of the movie was going to be as cringey as that scene was. Definitely got second hand embarrassment watching that scene.
I bet they didn’t buy any books most weeks, and only got one serving of waffles. They also probably didn’t get snacks at the movies. Idk maybe the supermarket cashier job payed Ben great.
see my issue with the ending is I don’t see why they needed that mini timeskip like why didn’t they just have them get together after graduation if they were going to just have it happen 5 seconds after seeing each other again
i think they both needed some time to focus on other things after what happened. also, it could be good to show that just cause you apologize, doesnt mean it fixes everything or makes people instantly forgive you. some people need time, but others might never come around to forgiving. but, this is also a disney movie, so they had to make up eventually for a happy ending
@@sleepy.timaeus.arts. no I agree with everything you said my issue is just that they didn’t show or really acknowledge any of that they just immediately got them together their first time seeing each other again without knowing if any of that growth happened
@@statesofgracie ah, i see. yeah, they couldve possibly added a little more to the movie just to see them living their life over the next few months and how theyve changed. if not full scenes, then maybe a montage
This and Slumber Party are basically Disney+ movies that became DCOMs but not even really, thy gave the weird branding of "Disney Original Movie". They aren't making things clear which annoys many Wikipedia editors. Prom Pact was fine. Annoying parts and borderline but it becomes decent enough in the end.
Disney REALLY needs to stop focusing on doing DCOMs since the market for the more "risqué" films for teens is high. Hollywood Pictures, owned by Disney, could reimerge for films like 'Prom Pact' & 'The Slumber Party'.
@@Missmagazinebura when I first watched that movie I thought the whole hypnotized thing was an analogy for “don’t do drugs because then you’ll hallucinate for the entire day” LIKE YOU’RE TELLING ME THEY WERNT JUST HIGH THE WHOLE MOVIE AND NOTHING ACTUALLY HAPPENED?? 😭
So did I! And this was the first thing I watched Peyton Elizabeth Lee in since Andi Mack got tragically cancelled. I don't want to sound creepy since I'm in my mid-to-late 20s but she was drop dead! Beyond the pretty good jokes, the chemistry between all of the actors was impeccable! And the fact that this was a DCOM that has an uncut version actually made it possible for the mature Lizzie McGuire revival and the "R" Camp Rock sequel to get greenlit🤣!
Dude I'm freaking out about this and it relates to the Ben actor, Milo Manheim: I was watching Generation Gap on Hulu because I love bad trivia/reality shows and during season 1, ep 2, he makes a guest appearance for the 'who am i' bit and ya'll he seemed PISSED to be there. Please watch it, it's one of the cringiest things you will ever witness in your life. He seems so upset the kids or parents don't know who he is and you can tell by his facial expressions and comments. At one point he basically says 'why am I doing this.' It's peak comedy. He seems like the type who thinks he's hot shit, and was like 'really? No one here has seen Zombies?' It's a DCOM' And then at the end, he's hugging the families and telling them Zombies 3 is coming out. No other guest was this shameless or pissed that no one knew them. It was truly wild. You would enjoy it!
Absolutely LOVED the movie, but the jokes from that store scene made me rethink ALL my life choices 😭 Ben and Latonya for the WIN he was too cute and deserved the best of everything 🥰
Isn't the whole point of a (prom)pact is to go with your friend or someone you know(who is also alone) if you can't find anyone to go with so you (also)won't be alone?
I watched the Prom Pact and I liked it, but did this actually originally air on the Disney channel? I watched the Disney channel until my mid teens, which was about 10 years ago, and those movies never mentioned or alluded to sex.
Disney has made PG-13 movies for a while now (anyone remember the movie PROM from about a decade ago?) but before they would just release them in theaters. Now, they’re going more of the streaming route, so they’re releasing the PG-13 movies on Disney+. The Disney Channel version of this movie was super edited to make it rated PG
To me it really feels like a modern 80s rom-com/teen movie if that makes sense and when I looked it up because I know I’m not insane it turns out the writers were going for that lol they took inspiration from different popular 80s films
One thing I appreciated about "The Prom Pact" was that the best friends didn't end up together, but stayed platonic throughout. Since Disney has a history of pairing their leads together romantically, this was a refreshing change.
