  • If you have experienced the Kalahari sand once, then you know, the sand will not only get stuck in your shoes but also in your heart.
We were all a bit sad to leave the red dunes behind but there were still plenty of new places to explore.
In Upington we filled up the fridge again and packed the vans before we spent a peaceful evening on a farm called Sluipsteen next to the Orange River.
Chewbakkie needed some attention so Tony and Caren set off early the next morning. we found them a few hours later in Prieska and there made a few calls to get someone in Beauford West to look at the Toyota.
We shortened the dirt road between Prieska and BF with a lunch stop in Carnavon (they have the best slapchups by the way), a coffee stop in Loxton and then finally a nice bbq fire in BF.
The Karoo National Park was quite different from the Khalagadi. It's hard to choose my favorite park, but Karoo is very high at the top of my list.
The cold weather makes the animals hide a little, but the park is more beautiful than beautiful. We will go back for sure.
Remember that this roadtrip was all about Chewbakkie getting ready for the PutFoot rally next year. www.putfootral...
