Zee. It's March 25 2021. The spring spectacular has ended. I saw the top 10 games everybody should play once, and this one came up. I am very interested if not so much for myself then maybe for my daughters both in their 30s but we all love Kiki's delivery service and this is about as close as they can be able to get in a game for that. Tom and yourself and the whole crew are just very very excellent people I miss the first time because I had not gotten back into gaming when this came out.
Thanks Zee! I just played this on the weekend and really enjoyed it. Biggest plus was the brave and cowardly mechanic which I thought was great, also I thought the board was beautiful and the components were very nicely done. The more I think about it the more I like it, haven't decided if I like it enough to buy it yet though.
I was really surprised how much fun this game was. I remember teaching it to my gaming group on a whim with a bunch of other halloween appropriate games. This was the surprise hit with lots of cheering and groans because of the coward/brave mechanic. Great game. It wasn't accidental that it won such a respected award.
Great review as always. However, you kept saying it's only a family weight and doesnt have a lot of depth. But then you said you don't play with all the added modules. In my opinion, playing with everything the game can throw at you ratchets this up to a gamer's game, not just a family wait game.
I guess I mean I don't prefer it with all the extra bells and whistles. I have also found some serious gamers who find the basic frame of the game too lucky, no matter how many extra rules are hung on that frame.
I wanted to add this for a while, still have it on my list. Very unique game. Great review as usual Zee. I remember a few other reviews being quite positive. The variants are a bit confusing, but I love the brave and cowardly mechanic. Awesome :D
Always see Madame Ching on the shelf behind you. Ever planning on doing a review on that? Would be curious to here your thoughts on that as Tom is positive but The GameboyGeek is rather negative on it... It's on my buy list but in the unsure section
so totes not related to this video, but what happened to the pandemic legacy play through videos? Seems like they were being posted with some regularity and then, darkness.......
we played about ten 3 player games since we got it a week ago. no tower-border-issues yet, and after a couple of games we always used all included "expansions". yes, the board art can't keep up with modern games.. but it's good enough! it's hard to explain, we don't usually play trick taking or take-that-heavy games, but this game kind of bends these mechanism a bit which makes it very enjoyable for us :-)
@@gabusan2 No the game is really good. I play a lot of games and I can tell you this game has a lot of tension and strategy. I love games where you have to play against the other players instead of against the game or with yourself. This game delivers that in spades. I've played it a few times with my main group of guys and while no one is really interested in the theme, the game always goes over well. Doesn't seem like my kind of game, but it has earned its place in my collection.

Just an update but the castles that are on the borders are intended to be played wrom whatever region the boarders are, so 2-3 sometimes.

Small mistake: The cowardly played root gatherer gets one potion OR a wand, not both
You can deliver to a tower in any region the base of that tower touches.
Yes, which is what I said. I was saying the artwork could have been clearer in indicating that, though.
this is a fantastic game, worthy of its awards... and adding in all the options really ratchets up the play.
