Thats crazy. I killed two 11 inch bearded gobblers with full fans on the same peice of property half a mile apart and neither one had spurs. Called nwtf and they said they were probably brood mates with bad generics. I mean these birds didnt even have a spot for spurs. Their legs looked like hen legs.

Birds get call shy responding to people calling all the time and them going to check it out and not being a hen anywhere around. I get what you’re saying but it’s not the best practice.

Another good way to tell if adult male is the secondary feathers on its wing, if theyre all similar length then its an adult
You mean the bronze patch.
Secondaries are tucked when not in strut.
