Jack Bros is better than a 4. They are doing a Japanese Manzai Comedy duo thing: straight man and funny man . The gag is that their jokes are so bad they knock out the enemies.
The reason why She was attacking the orb was because it contained the enemy's buffs. By taking it and slashing it, the enemy's stats have been lowered.

i don't think that changes my opinion that the enemy shoulda been in the orb cuz it woulda look cooler.
