They never planned on making more sequels so fnaf 1 didn't leave a way for fnaf 2 so they had to create a new cannon.

Nah I was lost as well...probably cause I'm half asleep but bro said hey meet this guy and he's friends with this guy one of them made an animatronic to protect his daughter...and somehow one of them went crazy and then for some reason killed his friends daughter??? I was very lost at that part that's what I originally got from it...dumbing it down made it more confusing LOL....but I understood after rewatching again LOL

You should watch MatPat's full timeline. Everyone has their version of the lore but MatPat's timeline has been mostly confirmed by the new books. A few things were wrong, but he was mostly right. Like he thought Henry bought out William's company, but the books confirmed it being the opposite way. William bought out Henry.
Welcome to the lore that is extremely addicting to get involved in after playing the games, hearing the audio logs/etc. There's a lot to unravel but man what a rollercoaster.

Oh well maybe to your surprise they are actually making a movie coming out this October on the 27th made by Blum house. If you’re interested in watching that, although no one really knows how close to the lore this movie will lean into so fair warning. You can look up the trailers if you’d like.

@@colevgreen1464 The books are the problem they are not linked to the games. Before he read the books his theories were fine and just know the Mimic isn't the same one as in the books because they try to avoid combining games with books

if you wanna watch everything, go watch the gmae theorist, full timeline lore, like almost 4 hours worth of stuff, you will not be able to stop watching and it goes into very deep detail
one thing that would help the vid make more sense is that the event where william's kid gets bit is before the murder of charlie, and henry designed the anamatronics so william was seeking revenge on him

He missed a game! He missed the part in Ultimate Custom Night when the vengeful spirit (one of them) known as Cassidy tortures William Afton as a never ending night guard and keeps him in this purgatory until his digital conciousness is uploaded

FNAF lore is confusing af for a person following it from game to game. Tim just got shoved with a ton of confusing information and all he knew going in was that the animatronics want to kill the security guard.

I still think to this day that the best explanation of the lore is by Wendigoon, his one makes sense and doesn't just pin William randomly becoming crazy and going on a kids killing spree, his one gives reason to that. Its a hour 21 mins so I doubt Tim will watch it.

as a certified matpat fanatic i can confirm that the person that made the lore video is getting alot of his sources from the homeless man across the street
The story was a lot more confusing when you were following it since the first game. I never watched GameTheory, but I remember watching Smike's theory videos on Fnaf for hours when the first game came out trying to figure out the story, practically when there was no info at all, and it was just as vague as you imagine.
My favorite theory by far that I subscribe to is the idea that William can thrall kids with robotics, and the idea behind that is that the kids who forced the youngest son of William into the suit were actually not Michael(William wants his son to believe it is him though) and his friends but thralls of William who ended up killing him by accident, and the reason behind that is because whenever someone becomes immortal through the use of robotics, their eyes turn white and their skin decays. The kids have white eyes, and wear masks to hide their decaying skin as well as identities.

just letting you know, the part where charlie (henry's daughter dies) happens after evan dies (which is william youngest son) and its cuz of what happens w micheal and evan, cuz of the anger william got after that he killed charlie to make henry who had a perfect life feel what he was feeling that
