With the new achievement diary shortcut, crafting Nature runes and selling them to a shop is the most consistent raw GP/hr moneymaker for irons, which is why you saw so many with Ali Morrisane. its about 2.4-2.7m gp/hr depending on efficiency
I did it recently during Deadman and from what I can tell it's actually quite simple but the mechanics are so antequated it has a delay in registering you adding fuel which often leads to people not realizing it registers slower than it actually seems to be, one piece will often move the bar up a few ticks and the strategy is simply to let it move up until it starts moving down and only add when it's a little below the area that increases progression, because as soon as it enters the green area it will tick up the progress bar and continue ticking it until it stops.
FYI, crafting natures with the diary cape and selling the runes to the shop is like 2.1m raw gp per hour and about the fastest cash for endgame iron looking to load up a scythe/shadow using scar essence mine.
