Sovietball had balls for not banning Tengu a single time, and only banning Cryo once 👀 40:37 The reason Op sold his Mecha Bay was because the Soviet MCV with regen just needed to camp in front of the Mecha Bay to deny any further production by op, at the same time blocking the existing tsunamis from ever safely reaching the sentry gun on the other side of the Mecha Bay. Selling the Mecha Bay meant extra cash, space for tsunamis to maneuver around dodging the MCV crush, and more importantly line of sight to kill the sentry gun that threatened op's only refinery. The sell would not have been necessary if Op had walled off his top refinery fully ofc
It just sucks that it stopped receiving balance updates and bug fixes really early on. The game is frustrating when you have to play around game bugs and glitches instead of focusing on the micro. As it stands, the game is just unfinished thanks to EA dropping support really early. But the concept of RA3's competitve multiplayer is arguably the best among C&C games, the potential was definitely there.
I always adore Ban Mode videos, you don't get matches like these that often, like that Yuriko comeback by Shijiao for example, that was awesome, you'd never see a Yuriko as _counterplay._ Also, I don't expect ban mode tournament players to read this, but on the off chance one does: just ban the cryocopters, you _don't_ need me to tell you about the cryocopters. Just... stop telling yourself whatever you're telling yourself, and be real: you need to ban those cryocopters.
Liked and added to my personal C&C collection for the Soviet win. Bonus points for that guy staying lore-Red. While the other one didn't pick Blue a single time.
I am not very good in this game either but watching the sovjet player with macro 9000 against ally player with 3000 income and still nearly losing (even with banning advantage) was so painfull to watch. Even i saw the many missplays.
You are wrong*, allied missile infantry can kill MCV/conyard in like 2 seconds from a distance with lockdown. And also much better vs vehicles and aircraft. Here you can see that even a ball of like 20 flak troopers can barely deal with a tank. * You are actually right and I misread it as "shoudn't" lol. Actually theres 1.13 fan patch that makes flak back at 300, I don't know why they won't use it.
very fun games but I'd like to see ban more with Uprising since it has more units to choose from, therefore funnier responses to the bans (instead of Allied always being cryocopter if not banned for example).
Don't see how not banning one version of the tengu (usually air mode) isn't a catastrophic misplay. The number of tournament games on this channel where tengus have been the core (sometimes nearly the only) unit for empire players is staggering. Just seems like, even with the updates to the mode where each mode of the empire transform units costs a ban, that empire is at a massive disadvantage due to their smaller (but more versatile) unit roster. Seems like you could ban air tengus, ground strikers, and defender cores and if empire dont respond by banning exclusively air units (or if they missed banning them phase one) they just instalose. Maybe adding a round 0 where you can shield a unit from being banned would make it more even - and that shield would have to protect both sides of a transform unit. Otherwise empire just seems hugely uncompetitive.
The other alternative might be that you can only ban both sides of transform units at a cost of 2 bans. That way Empire still has either usable tengus or strikers which is much more doable than neither
It's quite simply a problem of Empire having a minimalist roster that relies heavily on the Tengus, as you said. I think there are two main factors here: 1. Tengus are essential because they are Empire's anti-air (Striker VXs are simply not viable as AA if it comes to that, they take too long to come out, they are too expensive, it can all be shut down before they can be established as your AA). 2. Tengus are essential because they are Empire's basic, cost-effective, harassment unit. Problem 1 could, perhaps, be mitigated somewhat if ban mode added the Archer Maidens from the expansion, they are absolutely not an adequate replacement for Tengus, but hey, at least then Empire would have something that can _aim up._ Kinda like Soviets when they lose Bullfrogs and Migs and are forced to use Flak Troopers, it's bad but the option exists, imagine if it didn't... you don't need to imagine it, that's the Empire's situation. Problem 2 does not have a relatively easy solution. Maybe if the Seawings had their damage against buildings and harvesters buffed, then they could serve as a subpar alternative, that way it would hurt a lot for Empire to lose Tengus, but they would have _something_ on both categories to cover the roles of that unit.
The only nerf to ban mode for the Empire I can suggest is to ban only one version of Empire units with transform abilities. For example, if ground Tengus are banned, any Tengus built automatically transform into jet Tengus and can't switch back, and vice versa. Another solution is to prevent players from banning the whole anti-air units from their enemy. They must leave at least one anti-air unit or building available. Sea Wings and Hydrofoils don't count because their anti-air capability is limited to sea.
still won the finals due to the cheese. I think he just needs to get better at teching up instead of trying to confront everything with "just more units"
I love this ban mode. I feel like it made the game more unique and interesting to watch instead of usual style of tactics.

I love how after the first sentry push was dealt with, the camera pans 3 meters up and there is just the MCV sitting like "imma do it again"

Love your commentary and the ban mode and the game too, give me more!❤
Is this ban mode the one XYHC made?
Yes
Just tickling the algo
Sybert, are there any Uprising fight video?
Uprising is single player only, so no competitive matches, but I made an Uprising video a while ago: th-cam.com/video/jpyAbUCrVnU/w-d-xo.html
@@OneSybert There is uprising mods for multiplayer RA3, I don't see how that would be different to ban mode which is also a mod

I mean if you ban ground strikers you're banning strikers period
I think dual-sided empire units are immune to ban if they can only be produced in one mode, so the empire still got a very important advantage...
