Transcript:
10,000 years ago, a giant interplanetary spacecraft known as the Eldridge is suddenly taken over by an unknown force. The crew and civilians board the escape pods, only to be shot down by the ship's own defenses, forcing the captain to activate the ship's self destruct system. From the wreckage that falls onto a nearby planet rises a naked woman with long purplish-blue hair. Her eyes reflect this day when "god" and "humankind" fell to earth.
Skipping ahead several millennia, the Ethos, a church-like, culture-preserving institution, has excavated and repaired "Gears"-giant humanoid fighting machines, from ancient ruins, causing a Gear excavating race between warring countries Kislev and Aveh. The war, raging so long that their people have forgotten why it started, is brought to a whole new level of destruction. Kislev pulls ahead until Gebler, a mysterious military force, assists Aveh who is now progressively capturing Kislev's territory.
Meanwhile, in the remote village of Lahan, the amnesiac Fei Fong Wong is quietly minding his own business when a runaway gear crash lands, forcing him onto a journey where he'll confront renegade robot gods, evil split personalities, and... oooohhh-kaaaay?

Chris O Whoa, whoa, whoa. No it doesn't. There's a comprehensive video series that goes over the entirety of the six-episode Xenogears story, and it uses Perfect Works religiously. Perfect Works is awesome.

can someone please explain to me the hamster on the cross, because that is the most interesting thing ive ever seen
There's a scene later in the game where all your Mechs are crucified (Which makes no sense because the characters would technically just be sitting in the cockpit like nothing) And that Hamster character's Mech form is just growing really large, so it looks like it's really crucified in that scene.

AxelXGabriel Actually at that point they are piloting Omnigears which are connected to the pilots minds and bodies. As such they would feel something like being crucified,
JohneAwesome I still have a hard time understanding.
So there is a Hamster piloting a mech and that mech got crucified which made it grew larger and look like a hamster...
Also I can imagine sitting in the cockpit of a giant mech while it is stuck is equal to torture.
The pink hamster. isn't piloting a mech it just grows big on it's own when fighting

You just scratched the surface on this extremely complex and awesome game. This Lore should be at least a 1/2 hour long because of this story's complexity. Love the Chu-Chu on the cross! LOL

That's...the first five minutes. Though to be fair, ten minutes wouldn't suffice either.
The game was multiple disks frantically trying to tell the lore and eventually it became a star wars opening without gameplay.. Still my favorite game. My favorite part takes place 4000 years before the end of your video =P.

So... Are you trying to just give people an idea of the beginning of the game or actually chronicle it's lore? Because if it's the former then you kinda dropped some massive spoilers, and if it's the latter then you're missing 99% of it. o_O
What we are sure here is that they totally screw it.
That music and the red X made me think of Furn Gully.
A daunting task, doing one on this series. You'd have to talk about 5 times faster to be able to fit all the lore of this thing into the time limit. But this is certainly enough to understand your starting point, for sure.

@@TheRezro I mean xenogears only connection to xenoblade is name and some similar lore but otherwise they aren’t connected unless Nintendo buys the rights to xenogears and xenosaga.
@@Type_Sword Monolith was literally always fallowing the same source book. Abel is also in Xenosaga. But due to licensing BS they couldn't make direct sequel. Assuming power of Nintendo didn't make secret deal with Square. Oh, wait. COS-MOS was in XC2, so they undeniably secured licensing with at least them.

i remember that. when Bart tried to use the sand submarine Ygdrassil to crush Id, then Id just lifted the ship off himself. that was pretty badass.

yeah one of them hehe did you know it's actually part 12 of a saga? Xeno saga to be precise, all based on a navel or graphic navel I'm not sure witch hehe it could even be a maga. when Xeno saga 1-3 came out I was hoping they would do all 12 chapters and give us a remake of Xenogears but interest died off with Xeno saga 3.
I hate it when Japanese game developers always insist in inserting an awkwardly out of place mascot in their RPG's.

That is a great comparison, there are plenty of parallels to Gurren Lagann, to be perfectly honest the deeper i got into that show the more i enjoyed it cause of those similarities ^_^
I know nothing about Gurren Lagann so I don't know about the comparison, but Xenogears is well worth playing, even if you might need to play it multiple times to fully grasp the plot and the completely lackluster 2nd disc.
More like Gurren Lagan is like Xenogears.

Xenogears came out in 1998 by Squaresoft of the PS1. Then came the Xeno Saga games 1, 2, and 3 back in the early 2000s on the PS2... And then Xenoblade Chronicles a few years back on the Wii. NOW we're going to get Xenoblade X on the Wii U sometime late 2014 or sometime in 2015.

Haha....the crucified Chu-chu scene.
Loved this game. First half is solid, but the second half suffers ALOT of rushing due to running out of funds....*sigh*..what could've been. But I do give them props for actually including a proper ending, even if the gameplay did suffer a bit to a make it happen.
Better then having both crappy gameplay and a non-ending.
On the plus side, they did bury a fairly entertaining fighting game in the 2nd half, which despite being a mini-game is fun enough to warrant playing in it's own right.
also on theplus side, it is in it's unfinished state consideres as the best RPG ever made (by some me includedas en european ._.) so imagine urself how it all would have been IF the game was 100% finished :)
About the same...just less chairs and coffee and more action.

rather then this, lotsa more explaining, lotsa more story or rather sidestories were just too short, I mean Esmeralda's "grown up" change thing didn't even effect anything, no gear thingies, nor Stat boosting, nor.. but just explaination :| Also some characters got too short in comparison to others in points like backstory etc. (besides that even Rico & Maria should have gotten another Gear, which were cut from the game besides two optional dungeons)

5 is my second fav then 1 I say three was there weakest game I felt bored hearing the same story for the first 20 hours of it even if the pov changed so slightly

that wasn't even half the lore but gotta love the random crucifixion scene with CHUCHU in giant form being put on a cross. also that scene is the only time when you see elly's second gear. and you never get to use it :D

this isnt xenogear lore, its just a summary of the opening cinematic and the opening text monologue.
A 24 hour video wouldn't be enough to explain the Xeno series. Even Xenoblade the "simplest" of the three couldn't be explained in a minute.
