750 is a lot of money, you can get a paired set of OC44 in germany for 50 euros, a silicon FF for 90 euros to have a propper case, etc, switch a few components and you're good to go for 150. Anyway if you are happy with your purchase thats all that matters. It does sound amazing 👌🏼

Awesome. I just tried the Wolf Note Over Fuzz pedal from Midnight 30 and was blown away. Best fuzz sound I’ve ever heard.

700 for a a fuzz face loaded with possibly one of the worst transistors ever made? Youre out of your mind.
The cold hard truth is, the NKT275 was a cheaply made, highly inconsistent transistor. Arbiter didnt choose them for their electrical or sonic qualities, they chose them because they were cheap.
About a year and a half after the fuzz face came out, they switched to silicon, despite them being much more expensive.
To me, using these old transistors is a marketing ploy only. Its snake oil! Any low/medium gain transistors will work just fine, and sound very similar.

I like this fuzz - plays really well. I can also sell it for nearly double what I paid and been offered that twice. There is a huge ‘underground’ fuzz scene of people paying amounts I would go nowhere near for fuzzes 🤷🏽 is what it is I guess

@@hazymous right, if it were a competition… let’s not get our dicks out 🤦🏻‍♂️ i’ll just get out one of my other 20 fuzz pedals in the summer 😂

To each his own. For those of us that would love a real vintage fuzz, but can't afford $2000+, this is a bargain and probably the closest we will ever get. I can think of a lot of stuff that would be a bigger waste for $700.

broooo when homie said 700$ for a pedal bc of the quality..... I was thinking more of like the electronics since that's what we should be paying attention since that's what's going to produce the sound? right? like not the aged casing? like that won't affect my tone or anything right? Like yeah people want nice things. But what are we paying for really? Cause it looked hella nice inside that pedal. Clean. Well made except for the screw at the bottom which honestly if I liked the sound a lot I wouldn't care about it. So why are people always trying to screw one another in the guitar community by over pricing gear because I honestly don't think there was 500$ worth of electronics in that pedal nor the craftsmanship of the housing being worth $200 to justify it being 700$ in total. This aint me bashing on the dude who posted this or on the brand of the pedal cause it looks like they know what they are doing, but to the guitar players out there I wish you luck. Jimmy would be laughing at our community today I promise you.

I’d be surprised if the guys making these pedals are making 200 out of this, for 2 days work… and Jimi as i mentioned in the video, bought dozens of these at a time to test and get a good one. He loved trying gear. And gear wasn’t cheap. In terms of inflation it cost basically as much as today. Jimi would feel at home in today’s guitar community, he loved exploring everything he could… The cost of these individually made pedals is largely because they have to go through sometimes hundreds of parts to find ones that work. Those parts aren’t made any more so you have to find some from the now almost non existent old stocks. But the skill and hard work means no one has to buy a dozen of them to get a good one. These guys making these pedals only release ones that they have made with those best parts and so they have done that sifting for you. It’s just down to the economics of that. And no one should be expected to work for free and sell stuff at really low values… this is all an actual person doing actual work, not a factory system…

Hey, thanks for the kind words on my build quality.
If you don’t like the price and don’t see value in the superficial details such as vintage correct parts, OG enclosure & aged finish, etc.. that’s absolutely fine. But many folk do and are prepared to pay for it.
I also build a GE fuzz face at a £220 price point. Subjectively, it’s sonically no better or worse than this pedal James has in his hands, it is simply made using more readily available parts, takes less time and uses less costly hardware/enclosure.
The difference, like James has stated, is the time and effort that goes into every stage of the build, the scarcity and expense of the unobtainable parts as well as the time spent sourcing them.
It’s a hard earned living doing this, none of us are getting rich out of it and none of us want to work for free. Wouldn’t have it any other way though. 😊
      Cheers!

@@JamesOnGuitar thanks for the input and professionalism displayed here. Says a lot. I get your pov and respect it but I think technology has advanced to a point where manufacturing these parts have become reasonably easier to come by and produce and outsource. Unless there are electronic components that aren't being manufactured in today's modern world that can only be found in older pedals. I respect the gentleman putting their work out there and appreciate it and understand there not mass manufacturers. Keep up the good work. One day I'll be able to spend $1,000's of moneys on peddle boards and peddles, meanwhile I'm just your average broke college student (wrong audience). Cheers mate.

    • @charliepedals
      @charliepedals ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@Eye_Strain that’s exactly what they are; parts that are have not been manufactured since the late 60s. Also NKT275 were original fitment transistors to the early examples of the fuzz face. Its unlikely they’ll ever be remanufactured, people have tried and been unsuccessful - hence the price of remaining examples.
Hope this has cleared a few things up. 😊
