Just bought my first seafarer. ‘73 38c Glad to see someone on TH-cam with basically the same boat. She arrived a month ago and we are still on the hard. Bottom finished, starting on the topside this week, weather permitting..
I would love to see more of your boat! Seafarer has a Facebook page that is pretty tight-knit and people love seeing other Seafarers on there including me!
I have been watching some of your earlier videos and notice you mentioned gimballing an induction stove. There is a thread under provisioning on Cruisers Forum we have been discussing and doing just this. It's called "pushing the limits of electric cooking". Feel free to take a look and thanks for making these videos about Project SW 🙂
On the companionway metal strip (and anywhere else you are drilling through wood or core) use the "drill-fill-drill" method if you don't want eventual and inevitable rot. Drill an oversize hole, fill with epoxy and when cured, drill another hole sized for your fastener.
Those tabs in the thru-hull aren't for removing them, they are there for installation. You can put something in from the inside to hold them in place, while you tighten the nut. That allows for one person to install them and not needing one person inside and one outside.
Probably were not stuck a couple of them you have to loosen the nut before they will turn then open or close and tighten nut back up. A few of those valves are rebuildable and better than the new ones you can but today.
Oh! dang I wish I had tried that before removing them, I will end up having a couple of through hulls after the rebuild and ya I would like something extra robust on them.
Awesome! I have my new motor in the garage already, ordered it when I bought the boat but the refit is taking a bit longer than expected, regardless, it’s ready to go when I’m ready to put it in.

Keep up the work. I'm enjoying you figuring it out as you go.
Thank you! Yes it’s a huge learning experience for me, but we will all know this boat inside and out when she’s launched!
Great video 👍👍
Thank you!
Nice work!
Thank you!

Hey! Thanks! Ya I wasn’t sure how I was going to do that but I want to do it soon! I will look for that thread for ideas!

I am saving this comment for future use, I love this idea and I will be using this when re-bedding the deck hardware.

Oh! Thank you! Ok so when I install any new ones I will keep that in mind.

Looks like Thunderstruck has a used motor deal for like half off. UQM HDPP100 Drive System (Used)

using a crow bar/chisels etc to lever, won't that damage the layers of fiberglass in the hull?
Yes, but because I’m grinding all that fiberglass off to make the patch I’m not too worried about the area around the hole.
What electrical motor are you wanting to go with?
Electric Yacht custom designed a QT20.0 for my boat! So that is what I have in the garage ready to go, just need to get the Lithium battery bank.
You need to study up on the jobs you're doing before doing it You tube has a lessen for any task worth doing.
I usually watch a video or two before recording each episode but this old boat has a lot of interesting, unique challenges.
