I would have cloned the phantom monster. At this point I would be just trying to get more turns. The last play on the llano war elf is impossible to predict. An unsummon would have been so useful.
I love AB4K games. Great games, exciting until the very end. I would probably have gone for the Phantom monster. Buddy didn't pay the upkeep cost for the force in the last turn btw, but he would still have enough mana to play the Lure, so it wouldn't have made a difference, but he wouldn't have been able to play for example a cockatrice.
That lure made it almost impossible to win against him either with the force or the monster. I believe your only way out was if the second card drawn was an unsummon and you already played at least one in the game so the odds were against you. Overall I think phantom monster was the best choice but the bold move was to clone the force as you did. What a wonderful and beautiful game!
He did forget to pay it, but with 6 Forests and a Sol Ring he actually did have GGGG for the Force, as well as GG1 to pay for the Lure. So the victory looks legit!

We played Alpha/Beta only for this one, but yes, Remove Soul is good. Spell Blast is great to counter most instant/interrupt threats, but really bad against most creatures.
I so wanted to see a giant growth and berserk on the force lol

Valid point about the cockatrice. If you look at it statistically, what option would’ve been the best? 🤓
