  • A morning lure fishing for Rainbow Trout at Trawsfynydd Reservoir. Lures used were in line spinners, soft plastic grubs and the 'Dexter Wedge' 6 fish with as many lost lol!

Looks like your hook-set could be a bit more aggressive. That might help you keep more on the line. Although it would make for a short day.

If you shop around you can pick Hardy etc up at reasonable money. Garry Evans Tackle in Cardiff were doing half price rods last summer! You definitely appreciate the quality when you get your hands on it. Light gear is great fun when you hook into a decent fish.

So what ever trout u catch at traws you HAVE to keep!? I've always returned my trout from there as I found worms in one after cleaning one once, it put me right off eating them. Good sport though..

You can do catch and release, use barbless hooks.

I have an 8' Hardy Demon for lighter lures and 10' Hardy Marksman for launching the heavy Toby's etc and for Salmon. Beautiful Rods, both. The longer rod is definitely good for getting distance from the bank with heavy lures though. Don't know how you manage with gear that light, but must be fun!

Nice gear! I can cast a 5g lure 30m with this outfit and the best part of it is the take! Really aggressive and rips the rod right round, and good sport on the fight with the drag set right.

Hit that top fish again 8:08! Lol! Your rod looks quite light for casting any distance off the bank. What gear are you using? Nice vid though, well done.

It was proper dead at 6.19! (Nerves) LOL, The rod is a great one, super light carbon at 5'6" made by Greys, G Lite Spin rated to 7g. The reel is a micro reel from Italy, and the line is 4lb braid with a 4lb fluorocarbon leader about a yard long. This set up can cast a 5g lure/spinner 30-35yds. Plenty far enough to be in the zone! Cheers
