The sad thing about that video is Pavarotti is not in his best voice and looks extremely distressed. His father died the day before, but because the event was for charity, he still did the show which shows what a professional he was and what a kind soul he had.

The best definition of opera I have ever heard is this:
"Opera is the ultimate expression of human emotions." Now, type into youtube Nessun Dorma and you will see a list of other great tenors through history sing this aria. This is a type of an opers lesson from which you will learn a lot about opera voices. Do not forget the female arias, they are stunning also. At this point type in the artist name plus "singing operatic arias" for different artists. Enjoy!!! Sincerely, Moise Greavu

Everyone is listening to this performance, there are many others. He has performed this aria many times over the years, you can see him doing it when he is years younger, and older. There are differences in each performance, in his younger days he could hold those last two notes even longer than he does here. You can also watch performances by other artists, also wonderful singers, you can see why Pavarotti was the best of the best. There is one performance where the camera does not cut fade out, it is so worth watching if you can find it. The emotions are easy to read, "Did I do it, was it good? Yes! I nailed it!" You can read all of that on his face, and his smile!

If you want to explore more opera, you HAVE to listen to Barcelona with Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe. Freddie called her the best singer he had ever heard and was ecstatic when she agreed to meet and work with him. They became very close friends and she was devastated when Freddie passed. Barcelona was featured at the 1992 Olympics, which is where Montserrat was from. She was very proud to be a part of honoring her city. It’s a beautiful song and they’re both wonderful in it. ❤️

Nice. 2 suggestions. One...Google the song and opera b4 watching so you know what they’re stingy about, especially when in a foreign language as most operas are. Two...Check out the aria, QUEEN OF THE NIGHT, from the Magic Flute by Mozart. The version by Diana Damrau is my fave. It will blow you away. That one is in German, so Google it first. It’s actually terrifying. This one by Pavarotti was in Italian. Please, check out QUEEN OF THE NIGHT, thank you for introducing opera to many who’ve never heard it. Very nice. Cheers!

I, too, don't speak Italian - long story hahahhah - but I think NOT being able to understand what was being sung adds to the mystery and enhances the feeling and passion: it ALWAYS makes me cry. Also huge respects to you both for listening without interruption but we out here need to stress to you that opera - I'm a rock music fan, not opera - is a play in which there are songs, so a lot of background story behind the songs/arias and I HATE musicals!!. You've started pretty much at the top of the genre with this song: recommend Caruso and Ave Maria by him, also It's A Man's World with James Brown, is epic. Subscribed !!!!

Luciano Pavarotti is one of the greatest Tenors in opera history. "Nessun Dorma" (Nobody Sleeps) is the most famous aria from Puccini's opera "Turandot". It is also noteworthy that "Nessun Dorma" is a benchmark aria for top Tenors because on the last "Vincero" (I will win) the singer must hit and hold the "Tenor B4" note. Another great Tenor aria is "Vesti La Giubba" (Put on the Mask) from the opera "Pagliacci" by Leoncavallo. Check out Mario Lanza's rendition of "Vesti La Giubba", it's outstanding.

Pavoratti, inspired by legend, Mario Lanza, as were many other tenors, and who had an unmatched quality to his voice! Listen to his version of "Nessun Dorma"or "I'll Walk with God" from the soundtrack of "The Student Prince."

He opened his mouth and beauty can forth. Spare me the Yankee Evangelist God stuff. He was a human being with a talent that few have. That said his "Pop" songs are mostly awful, If "Nessum Dorma" does not reach all of your senses than forget it, you are a One Direction Fan and I forgive you. I was introduced during the World Cup and the pre-Pavarotti benchmark was Jussi Bjoerling. Pavarotti is better.

I know you guys have probably seen the video with Luciano, Pavarotti and James Brown. If you haven’t, they do a fabulous duet of James Brown’s song It’s a Man’s World.
Glad you to have the wisdom to not interrupt that masterpiece in the middle. You were right, he sang with everything he had.

Nessun dorma! Nessun dorma! None shall sleep! None shall sleep!
Tu pure, o Principessa, Not even you, oh Princess,
nella tua fredda stanza, in your cold bedroom,
guardi le stelle watching the stars
che tremano d'amore, e di speranza! that tremble with love, and with hope!
    Ma il mio mistero è chiuso in me; But my secret is hidden within me;
il nome mio nessun saprà! no one will know my name! No, No!
Sulla tua bocca, No, no! On your mouth, lo dirò quando la luce splenderà! I will say it when the light shines!
Ed il mio bacio scioglierà And my kiss will dissolve
il silenzio che ti fa mia! the silence that makes you mine!
(coro: il nome su nessun saprà e noi dovrem ahimè morir) - chorus: (No one will know his name and we must, alas, die.)
Dilegua, o notte! Vanish, o night! Tramontate, stelle! Fade, you stars!
Tramontate, stelle! Fade, you stars! All'alba, vincerò! At dawn, I will win!
Vincerò! Vincerò! I will win! I will win!

Every time someone says that is listening to Pavarotti for the first time calling this a "song" and not an "aria" without knowing the difference, and every time people say that this is a Pavarotti's song not knowing that is a part if an opera written by a guy called Puccini....every time all this happens, an Italian dies.

you should check out a singer called Mario lanza, he was an American film star and opera singer in the 40's and 50's, he was the guy who influenced the likes of Pavarotti to become a tennor, Lanza was also my late father's favorite singer.

So that the opera singer is able to give a good performance on stage full of emotions and acting. They must have learned the technique of singing for at least ten years. After this time, they have experienced the singer so well that they don't have to pay attention to her and they focus on the acting part. ... Im opera singer. this is normal siging form me. But yes, he had great voice :) ... I heve bassis voice - like: E. Schrott, Adbarzakov. I like D'Arcangelo, too.

He's singing about a night. The title means something like 'let no one sleep'. If you like Pavarotti then you may enjoy ' the three tenors in NYC" He was one of the three and the concert was to help one of them return to his musical career (He had recovered from cancer). You, also may enjoy watching the clip of Andrea Boccelli sing to Elmo on Sesame Street. ( Watch the clip with the little girl with the dark hair) Yeah...opera singer on Sesame Street. Opera for everyone!

There are many more songs from Pavarotti for you to listen to. Caruso is a favorite, Una Furtiva LaCrima, Pagliaccio, with English subtitles, posted by Mata Tosti, and No Pagliaccio Non Son, also with subtitles and posted by Mata Tosti. Caruso is about the great opera singer Enrico Caruso, who learned, at the age of 48, that he was dying. The writer of the song, Lucia Dalla, imagined how Caruso would tell his young wife of two years that he is dying. Un Furtiva LaCrima is about a man who sees the woman he loves cry a single tear as she watches the younger girls and their lovers dancing together. When he sees her loneliness he knows he can win her love. Canio the clown (Pagliaccio) learns that his beloved wife is unfaithful, yet he must go on and perform for his audience, even though his heart is breaking. No, Pagliaccio Non Son is the closing act of the play, where he demands his wife tell him who her lover is. Nessun Dorma is the story of a prince who wants to win the hand of a princess. In the morning he must answer her three questions correctly or lose his head. But he has no fear, he knows he will win. He has kept his name a secret, the princess has sent all of her servants to ask everyone for his name. No one is sleeping (Nessun Dorma). You can find any of his songs with subtitles using the search box.

Try yet another classical music one, but every classical music song doesn't have to be serious Every summer the BBC holds what they call the Prom Concerts. A lot of serious music, but on the last night of the festival, they let their hair down a little. The orchestra dresses in bright colours, there are streamers and balloons everywhere and the audience of normally cultivated ladies and gentlemen can get a little rowdy. This is a song sung by Anna Netrebko from an operetta called Giuditta by Franz Lehar. and she wows and teases the audience That's all you need to know, as the screen has English subtitles. Enjoy. .th-cam.com/video/p_kaOYC_Fww/w-d-xo.html
