  • A beautiful mix of English coastline in the summer time and Various Tracks from Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works I and II.
This used to be on a constant loop on Terrestrial Digital TV Test Channel and for what I have found out about it was made in 1998 as a test of the new 16:9 cameras and the equipment to encode the video for broadcast looking at how it would cope with fast movement, rippling water and other banes of digital video compression.
    Track listing
0:00 Selected Ambient Works II, Disc 1, Track 3 (Aka Rhubarb) • Video
    5:40 Xtal
    • Video
10:30 Selected Ambient Works II, Disc 2 Track 2 (Aka Parallel Stripes) • Video

@justwhatever22 Wow I don't think you'll believe how much I'd like to thank you for making this. When I got my first digibox it was quite a rotten Jan/Feb and would watch this on the engineering channel loop for ages or have it on in the background and was very annoyed when they stopped showing it as I never got around to recording it on a whole tape.

Hi! Interesting to see this: I directed it :) I've just uploaded a version myself, at ?v=Ok06G7E07Ik - and I've posted more info there about how it came about. It's really interesting you wrote "... looking at how it would cope with fast movement, rippling water and other banes of digital video compression" - you're absolutely right, but how / where did you hear that?

I think I read that it was not just a nice travelogue but also to highlight problems in digital transmission when I tried to find it a few years ago, can't remember where but there was or if it was in a forum or on a specific wiki-like page. But once again thank you, I would be a much more stressed person without it.

Hi Matt, i'm looking to find a video online of an Egg Card advert from around 2004 - the one where a scotsman tries to sell "genuine wembley turf". I see you've got others on some of your videos (garage salesman, bodybuilder), any idea if you have the one i've mentioned?
