I enjoyed this. If people would take some time to learn from the past, perhaps we would be living in a better world. Thanks.

James Joseph Towers Deck Boy age 19 on Empress OF Asia taken prisoner of war by the Japanese in Singapore. James was transported from Changi prison in Singapore via railway to the Death Railway where he died age 20 of Dysentery in the Malai camp. James was later buried in the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery. From the 5th February 1942 when the Empress of Asia was bombed in the approach to Singapore as a Deck Boy on board to dying age 20 on 13th June 1943 in a camp on the Death Railway I wonder what horrors he endured as a POW as a young boy in his teens. James Joseph Towers came from a long Merchant Navy Liverpool family. Rest in Peace James Joseph Towers.

At the unveiling where the Video was taken two of Colonel Tooseys soldiers were there. Both in their 90's. I wonder if they knew Joseph.

Very educational. I have also been to where it was filmed in Celon. Spent time also in Borneo and Singapore. If I was a older and Japanese ,I wouldn't be so keen to pay either of these locations a visit because of the atrocities they committed during the second world War. The younger generation of Japanese don't have this problem and it's showing by there tourism.

      How is it Pronounced?

Wirral Channel. Kid of like "kawe'e" or close to that. Thai is a tonal language, you could say a distant offshoot of Chinese, but that rendering will do. You could ask a native Thai speaker.

@@normanbraslow7902 Interesting. I will also ask Julie Summers who narrated on the video. She is a leading expert on the story. It was Her Grand father.

Wirral Channel My wife is Thai and that is the way she pronounces the name. As I said, best check with a native Thai speaker.

@@TheWirralChannel Kwai in Thai language is pronounced Kway. If you say Kwai (as 99% who’ve seen the film do) it sounds very similar to the Thai word for male genitalia
