If You are in the market for a 15 watt amp, skip everything, this is the one! I own a Blues Jr, Ac 15, Tiny Terror and Rocker 15, this blows them all out of the water! I play everything from blues to metal. The digital reverb on this amp is incredible as well, and my go to has always been an accutronic spring tank. The greenback is great, but it's also good with other speakers. I also run an Eminence CV-75, and a Cannabis Rex off of it. So much different range with this little amp. And, true tube goodness! \,,/ Oh Canada \,,/
First off I love Traynor amps. My main gigging amp at the moment is a ycv40wr running with the ycx12wr extension cab. So I'm a little biased to Traynor. I love the quality and customer service of this company so I was curious about looking into the ygl series of amps. I'm huge into watching and listening to online demos before trying out new gear. After watching this demo I'm a little disappointed in Traynor for the lack/low end demo videos. For example, try searching the traynor ironhorse. No official demo video that I can find. Plus this video and the ygl 2 videos (including Kim Mitchell's) are poorly done. Just take a quick look at some of Pete Thorn's demo videos to give you a good idea of what a quality demo and sound quality (yes even on TH-cam with some good speakers sounds great) should sound like. Cmon Traynor you guys have to step up the production a bit!
Into a fairly efficient speaker(at 97db the greenback barely qualifies)15 watts is loud enough to keep up with a drummer if if you're talking about a less than clean sound.Now if you put a Celestion Blue,G12h30 or V30(various Eminence and Webers too) in there you up the volume appreciably.Still the greenback will keep up if you're not expecting Fender cleans.

True, this demo sounds terrible compared to hearing these live. WTF is he doing with the gain settings? My YGL2 is fantastic, as is my YCV20 (with Canibis Rex speaker) these sound better with less gain and using a good OD pedal
another lameass blues amp. DO they make any combo amps for metal music? Seems like all vox/orange/traynor/fender/(insert name) are all bluesy/classic rock at best..type amps. What if I wanna play real metal? godsmack/disturbed/ or even 80's metal like poison/crue/leppard..isnt there a combo tube/solid that does this music? All demos are just same ol same ol "fender guitar and bluesy/clean/classic rock demos" zzzzz....
The custom special would do it easily. It's probably their most modern sounding amp and sadly one that does not sell as much. I think they discontinued the combo version lately but the head is still available. YCV50B also has a lot more gain than this but will sound more like a 80 marshall.
blackstar has too many bells and whistles. I got a randall with 2x12's and is solid state and heavy as hell, idr model but has 3 channels and is extremely metal so i am happy. But ya most of these are just 'bluesy'. I just dont like dealing with the unpredictibility of tube amps.
This thing is a fire breathing monster. By far the nicest clean tones I have played on an amp.

The amp that's shown from the rear has a blown power tube! Notice that the barium that's normally silver is white in one tube. It has no vacuum.

I concur, this demo is lame. He doesn't even try to dial in a smooth/sweet OD sound. Doesn't he hear how shit that rhythm pickup sounds?
Awesome range of tone. Looks like it will fit in a hatchback and not take out your back in the process.
I own it and it weighs around 20-25 pounds id say. Way heavyer then it looks😉

no, two EL84s won't really cut it with a drum kit...only if miked (through a PA)

An update, swapped out the Celestine for an Eminence speaker, swapped out the Sovtek pre amp tubes for EI tubes, now that's much better
