My husband went to the eye doctor, had an exam, and picked up his glasses an hour later. I WAS SHOCKED. Here, it takes them TWO WEEKS!
I love this about Korea. Every time I go, I get a new pair of eyeglasses because of how easy, fast, and insurance-free it is!
@@rei__tvmaybe true in many cases but not cases. I get my glasses much sooner than 2 weeje
I get my glasses within an hour too, but probably depends where you go. Got them from Eyeglass World in California. Lenscrafters is usually same-day too, but not sure how quick.
Just came back from Korea, my daughter got a pair of glasses & only took 15 mins for $45.
Has Mr. Moon picked up habits from living with an American?
Good question!😊
That’s what I want to know.
Would love to see a segment on that!
Ooo that's a really good question. Add follow up with is there anything that he feels that just makes sense too
So true!!
I'd eat up a podcast-like format of you just chatting abt stuff like this, on or off camera -- especially if you ever have moments where you go off on long tangents lol
This is the content I’m engaged the most with. I’m moving to Korea in January from the south USA so I like to know the culture and mannerisms and things. I’d like to be as polite and informed as possible. I’m hella excited. 😤
I'm southern myself and stayed there for a month in Seoul. As a southerner I was SURPRISED how many Korean men held the door for me. So I will say that in at least in Seoul some of the politeness of international communities have rubbed off on the younger generation. I asked a few locals about this in Itaewon and they told me many younger people liked the politeness of southerners when they visited the states or met them and decided they would hold the door for others at times. This was back in 2019, so not sure if anything changed after the pandemic but it was a pleasant surprise for me. Of course they knew I was from the South when I spoke or I guess what I wore so maybe they went the extra mile? That good old Nuunchi she spoke about. Loved it there, so will you. Be careful there, there are many who AREN"T locals and just be careful as a young woman there in general.
being in Korea fed my introvert like never before. I was in paradise, no small talk, you basically live in your own world in public and ppl ignore you
omg i became an introvert in korea lol
It sounds depressing
@@kitschyoyo78 I’m not sure what u mean?
Definitely they won’t bother you but I still haven’t gotten used to the stares. I get it totally because I’m a foreigner but sometimes I’d look up from my phone and the whole subway was looking at me. It made me feel weird sometimes but again I’m not offended by it! Just a weird feeling because I rarely get stared at in America
I became an introvert in Korea . I struggle to go to the grocery store even cuz Koreans stare at me and I feel like I’m an animal in a zoo . I started taking a walk at dawn or very late at night to avoid people . Yes and this feeling like living in my own world cuz nobody takes me seriously cuz I’m a foreigner.
I can’t believe it’s been 12 years already! I began watching your videos back when you started in preparation for my own stay in Korea. It’s amazing to see how much you’ve evolved as a person and watching your family grow is so beautiful!
I've missed this style of video!! Obvs love all your content, but this was a great throwback.
sameeee
The GPS thing is real, even in America lol. I put on my GPS 90% of the time just incase there is a faster route, or a detour. WAZE is pretty good and keeping me from getting trapped or having to turn and go all the way back around.
Exactly! Also helps with the speed limit since I'm a bit heavy footed. lol
I moved here earlier this year. I live in Busan and when I visit seoul and daegu I see so many differences in how people treat each other. Seoul is a lot more friendly and social, but in Busan people are quite reserved and quiet. I like that part. While Seoul is friendlier, in Busan you actually get more door holding. I never expect it, but im always shocked when it happens. I too have found myself becoming less patient, but while you can get most things by the next day, food delivery is often the same speed as the states. I will say though, when there is a delay in my order, I develop a mini attitude 😂😂😂 I'm becoming spoiled lol. Daegu is the one place I was able to successfully correct a 할아버지 for talking about me. It was hot, I was tired from a long day of teaching and then the train ride, and to top it off it was my birthday. I heard him say "오, 헤비 걸" and I yelled "야! 할아버지 그만해!" He looked shocked and said "oh sorry sorry" (I regret nothing 😂)
I wish I could get translations to see what he said and your response lol
@@TiffSoRandom 🤣🤣 He said Oh heavy girl, heavy girl. And I basically said hey grandpa knock it off! It's less in the what you say but how you say it. He stumbled over himself saying oh sorry sorry after I yelled at him 🤣
@@Ji-Ji89 😂😂😂 I’m glad you set him straight. The nerve of him smh lol
Ive been watching you for 9+ years. Kinda watched you grow up and become the awesome young woman, wife and mother. I would love for you to do reaction videos about your very early videos. You did a video about 10 years about habits you picked up and dropped. Would love to see you react to your younger self.
I enjoy this type of content more. Your everyday life is routine. I’d like a video on how you’re teaching the twins English and your culture and do you ever make American food.
second this
Oh! The Piggly Wiggly! I remember that store as a kid. When my mom and her friends shopped there, they would say "We’re going down to the Pig" 🐷 Thanks for the throwback 😂
😂😂😂😂 yeah. Idk why I thought of that store 😂😂😂😂 but we really did use it for landmarks often I think
@@MrsMeganMoonLOL, I’m a South Carolina girl, so people still tell me to “turn right, up there at the Piggly Wiggly” 😂
I was surprised when she said that because we had them in the midwest and I didn't know it was down south that far!
@MrsMeganMoon A good question someone brought up was if Mr. Moon has picked up any America habits living with you.
i like these quick bits of Korean customs and culture!
I love these videos where you just sit and talk. You have a very soothing voice and it's also really nice to hear about the everyday Korea that not shown in the k-dramas.
I really enjoy the talking videos! And yes, this one felt easy breezy because of the length, but it wasn't too short or too long, and I'd love to see more content like this
I definitely prefer these type of quicker videos about a particular topic. Longer videos and vlogs are nice to but i definitely like being about to watch a quick video
Either is good, but I do like the longer videos. It's very interesting to learn and see things from a different perspective. 😊
The biggest shock for me is leaving bags unattended! I’m from Southern California and myself and friends/family had so many things stolen when I was growing up, so I have hands and eyes on my purse at all times lol. Thank you for sharing! ❤
That hairstyle is so pretty. I knew about the language, but I've never heard about eating a certain way around superiors. My favorite part was the X with the arms 😂😂
Love your videos. Please keep them up ❤❤❤
omg this video cracked me up, especially with the "r" and "l" pronunciation 😄
Megan guuurl , we gona need a podcast 🎉
Love these types of videos! But I love longer videos as well! Nice to see you again Megan!
I love talking videos of all lengths. Thanks for sharing your life!
Love this content. Megan voice is so soothing.
Left Korea some years ago and all the habits that I got from there are still embedded in me. Sometimes I don't realize it. I still lack patience and am forever in the fast fast mentality.
Love this type of video ❤
Can you do a hair video? I love your extensions. I would love if you made a video of how you blend them. They look so natural 😍😍😍
We def need a Megan moon podcast ❤
Love these videos!❤
Girl I love anything you put out . ❤❤❤
I love the long podcast-y videos!!
This is awesome!
yayyyy another new video
What about talking about your American family roots and how they feel about you moving and living in Korea
Navigation! I do too but only because living in the city, it shows me a few routes and the one with the least traffic choices or if there are incidences on the road. Plus, Waze will tell you if there is a police car in front ready to stop you from speeding. In Australia for example, going 1-5 km above a certain speed limit gets you a fine! So, even when I know the route, Navigation is essential!
Hey Megan! ❤Love this type of content as well 🙏🏾
4:22 The Piggly Wiggly!!!! That brings back memories!!!! "We Big on the Pig!!!"
Hiiii!! Haven’t watched yet but wanted to comment for support! You’re definitely my favorite TH-camr ❤❤❤❤
Always enjoy your videos 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️👋
Traveling there versus living... thank u for video. Id pick to travel verse living. Haha. Ive worked on patience so long, the progress I have, I wanna keep and continue 🙏 :D. Altho even if a shortwhile, stayed a month in japan and i felt blown away by certain fast speed--- always appreciate these videos. Thank you
I love the long form talking videos!
I love the long form podcast type. What is your history with how you got to Korea and your life began there? It’s so fascinating and interesting! As a half Korean who grew up in Korea and moved to Savannah Georgia lol I relate to you a lot. lol
I love both types of videos but I prefer the long podcast ones
I love these talking videos sm you’re so good at it can you make the next video 1 hour long please
Since I’ve been here, I’ve noticed at the bus terminal they are holding doors now. Also I do the no thing and always have. 🙅🏼♀️ I realize I have a lot of Korean habits. Great video! Definitely like the podcast style ones from you too!
😊😊😊😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 that X 🤣 is taking me out Mrs. Moon.
Love these videos nd ur family videos ❤️ okay listen anything u put out I love 🥰🥰🥰
More of these videos, pls and thank you 😊
I like this format. 💜
Can you talk about tips and tricks for someone who is moving to Korea for the first time, like what to worry about bringing, etc.
First! Lots of love and support from Florida
How did you beat me….Orlando, FL. Grrrrrrrrrr
@@SeriousPoemsFast fingers lol Deltona Fl so not too far
And here's your cookie 🍪
❤❤❤❤ thanks for coming and watching ❤❤❤
@@wereallabitcrazee4312thanks?? Haha I’ll accept any cookies ❤❤
I need the vid on eating rules considering ages!!
I'm American too and I live in a different foreign country. I've learned to look the other way a lot.
Megaaan🌙 😃
I love your channel!!!
I love watching your content. You have a beautiful family. Sending love from Iowa.
I'm in my early 50s and I've never used GPS. I'm surprised that things move faster there. Another interesting and informative video. Can you make a video on the medical system in South Korea?
Great video Megan 🎉❤!! You should have your own TV show!! 🎉🎉
I haven’t seen you do your intro in many moons. Sounds like your Korean got better 😎
This was a fun video. Love your earrings and sweater😊
Vlog - Differences raising babies in the USA vs South Korea.
2:20 yup they do. Im a security officer at a business building and we open door for people ect. , and so I use to hold doors open for other people but soon realize that when you do that and its not part of your job and your actually on your way somewhere, people just keep on coming and you become the door holder.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hi from philly! Hugs from our family to you and yours!
❤❤❤❤
I felt that leaving your purse part particularly. I left my purse with my phone at the self-checkout in Lotte Mart bcuz I needed to grab something I forgot. I didn’t realize I really let my guard down til the moment I got back. I’m from Chicago so I was really shocked with myself😂
Love these videos!
Keep these types of videos going! Question for you though. Do you think the Korean culture will ever get rid of the hierarchy gestures? Like the example you said when eating and drinking. Korea is evolving so much, do you think those things will die out or continue?
Ah thanks Megan!!!
Another thing I noticed in the video - when you were talking about flattening the rice “makes it taste more delicious”, that phrase sounded kinda non-native IMO, kinda awkward and something my Korean students would say. I feel like natives would innately say “makes it taste better”.
We use navigation here in America too 😊
Very interesting. Thank you.❤
I love your make up look and hair I need a tutorial for both please
I put on navigation to hear traffic changes or speed traps
I’m in Korea right now on vacation. I e def noticed the not holding the door thing,But I find younger people will hold the door fur you.
You should write a book, great information. ❤
I like the longer ones too
We do the rice against bowl in Ghana as well 😃
Fascinating
learning❤
Thank you, Meghan. I've been watching your video since you have been wearing your little panda hat.😂🙏🏿🙏🏼🙏😇🎯🥊
5:20 I don't think that's Korea vs USA, that's just youth vs getting older lolol. I'm the same way now.
It's funny because TH-cam recommended a short literally yesterday that talked about the holding doors thing but in Japan lol apparently they don't do it there either
8:00 that's me in in groups in America 😢 but it's my personal problem, afraid to speak up
Let us know about Multicultural family struggles with parenting . International couple struggles.
Love your channel❤! I am interested to learn Korean and Japanese languages. I could not find which of your videos that has the code for getting 50% discount on one of the website. Please provide the name of the website and the code. Thank you so much, Megan!
I love your earrings, anything with stars for me! Did you buy them in Korea or on the internet?
She stopped mentioning snap chat 😮☺️. Thanks for the video
omg about the subway! i was shocked to see people running for the train cuz I was like "there's another one in 2 mins???" it's so strange hahahah I agree I think the bballi bballi lifestyle makes my korean friends sooooo impatient hahahahha
Time to move to Korea 🛫🛫🛫
It's amazing what you changed when living in another country I bet you shocked yourself a few times 😂 but I don't know if I can ever be quiet and not speak up if I'm uncomfortable I've done that for too long in my life and no longer agree with staying quiet but if it's not too bad maybe. But less say drinking everyone wants to drink I can't tolerate alcohol I'd have to say no and hope no one takes offense like this video and is helpful with the culture and how to deal with the changes more like this its educational and possiblely save someone from doing mistakes
I totally use the GPS all the time even if I know where I'm going, but that's just because it will tell me the traffic information as well in case I need to use a different route
Crash Landing On You the door episode. Lol
good vibes
very efficient society!
I used to stay in Korea in the 90’s to visit my mom’s family. I remember the mornings and remember why it was the land of the morning calm. Sounds like that land doesn’t exist anymore, and it makes me a little sad.
I think the GPS thing is true in america today too.
You’re right, if you hold the door, they’ll keep going out,as on the elevator, they’ll crowd it,our family have lived here for12 years now,2012, moved to Seoul, worked on Yongsan based
I like both the long and short talking videos.
In Japan they do the X for "no" too, but the emotional effect on me the first time surprised me. My theory is that in the U.S., if you made a huge gesture that blocked your body from the recipient, it comes across really strong. Like you're distancing yourself emotionally or physically from the other person. Maybe it gives off defensive vibes? So I was at the store asking for an item. It was out of stock, so the staff said sorry with a big X. Emotionally I was so surprised. Like "oh, dang, sorry to bother you. I guess I'll leave now" 😅 it also makes me feel embarrassed because everyone around you knows you got that answer. It feels silly.
Edit: even in saying all this, I still use it myself, especially with my kids. Haha. But I would never do it in America for example
Doing the X hand gesture is soo real, I've picked up that habit as well😭😅
