This is really good advice. And if instead of scoffing at that guy's dyslexia or confused reading of the sign, they rather took it into consideration how better to phrase these signs, it could save a lot of money and prevent accidents.
I love the compassion and concern that Judge Caprio has for those who obviously need it. But I also love that he can be tough when toughness is needed - not that he was overly tough on that guy because he did drop the one ticket. But I think he learned something from that experience, like how to read traffic signs.
Often in life we think we have problems. Watching this Channel often changes that and my Heart goes out to others who clearly are less fortunate than me. Judge Caprio and his team are inspirational. Steve in Scotland.
I have the same knee jerk reaction when I feel I'm not treated fairly. It's especially difficult when you struggle with anxiety and it just amplifies every emotion. As someone with very similar struggles, I love to see someone owning up to their behavior, even if it's not always 100% in our control.
Completely agree this is mangled english. " *Stop before* [turning] *right on* [a] *red* [light]" is where i would draw the line in terms of unambiguous phrasings. Considering all the tourists, migrant workers and foreign language speakers driving around the US this should be a paramount concern. Instead it just got laughed at and ridiculed. Because people are "supposed to know" its meaning, doesn't make it correct.
@@1ifemare I would phrase it "On (or while) red, stop before turn" Simple and should be more understandable than some "Right on red after stop". I am from non english speaking country and when I read it, it just does not make sense logically. Taking the first part "Right on red"... is it saying that I must turn right when light is red? Even when I wanted to go straight. Continuing from that idea, I would must turn right when light is red after stop, what stop? Bus stop? Or maybe it means I have to make the turn after the stop sign or line. Just to make sure that driver understands that simple concept of driving on roads and not turning too early. It needs improvement. I am not sure, maybe it is correct in legal terms currently, but everyday driver has to understand simple English in US , not legal terms. Other alternative I could take from this sign is that, after I stop I have to wait for red light to make a right turn? On green not allowed to make right turn and when it is green then I have to stop to wait until it goes to red to make the turn? Not sure if my chain of logic makes sense here though, might be just me.
The defendant, Mr Harrison, is correct: the sign stating "Right On Red After Stop" is poor English. Mr Harrison's interpretation is proven by adding punctuation. "Right on red. After, stop". It would be much better if the sign were to say "Stop before Right on Red" so that the sign's directions are in the order they should occur.

I am from Iran/Persia. Whenever I see this judge, he reminds me of the merciful almighty. He's a great sign of God on the planet. Unlike many other judges, he truly deserves to be called "Your Honor". I see on TH-cam how other judges abuse their power and hurt people. I have to say, judging by this show alone, the only reason the people of that town haven't burned their city government employees alive is because of this judge. I cannot imagine living in a town where there's nowhere legal to park.
Try some European cities where the layout of the centre goes back to medieval times and streets were last adjusted to traffic in, like, 1853. Trying to find a parking space in a network of odd-angled one-way streets you don't know is definitely something everyone wishes they could avoid.
That Gilda is a beautiful young woman and a beautiful person. I feel she just needed someone to hold her hand, tell her it will be okay, and calm her, so she can work this out. She was a completely different person the next day, so she was very affected by anxiety.
That's more weird. It confusing because it seems to say 'always stop before right, except when red'. It reads as two full sentences! I think the current sign is just fine and less confusing. "Stop on right. Turn on red."

I have two points for Mr. Harrison. He claims to have interpreted the “Right on Red After Stop” sign to mean that he could turn right but was required to stop after making the turn. 1. He did not stop after turning 2. If he can not understand simple/basic signs, then I do not feel safe with him performing the duties of a Security Guard. I hope he does not carry a weapon.
The "right on red after stop" case shows why punctuation is very important. But I'll agree that "After stop right on red" is much clearer no matter how punctuate it.

8:12 The judge missed an opportunity to explain to this man exactly what "right on red after stop" means. When he walked out of the court he absolutely did not understand that in order to turn right on a red light, he has to stop first and look for oncoming traffic before turning the corner. "Look" is implied but with this guy, i'm not sure. He'll probably end up getting more tickets for this very same infraction. (facepalm)
