How do I orient the 5100 rear shocks? Boots up or boots down? The stickers on mine are different. One shock has stickers that are right side up when the boot is up and the other one is opposite.
Ok ....I have brand new OEM springs...I want 2.5" in the front...do I need to set that on the top groove or should I buy the 2.5" silver toytec coils to go on the 0 setting to get the 2.5" lift? What shocks.do u need for the rear AAL ? Front is 24-239370 ...what is the old shock part # for the rear 5100's?
I noticed the end of the shaft with the threads were accessible once you assembled the shock in the press in your video. Apparently with the aftermarket springs I have (Toytec), this isn't the case. I want a total of around 2.5", which equates to....2nd notch from bottom=.85" + Toytec springs=1.6" with a total of 2.45" I'm assuming since the springs I purchased are spec'd for a 1.6" lift ride height I will have to compress the spring until I have enough threads to start the nut, correct? Or do I need to extend the shock? Thanks!!
No! I just added them with the rough country 2" leveling kit and adjusted it to 1.6 and it maid my ride way to stiff.i recommend a top mount spacer if your going to try to add
Just got the Toytec/Bilstein 3" lift for 2007 4runner. The coilovers are set on the second perch and I am finding I got too much lift in the front and the ride is quite stiff. The truck sits exactly level which it shouldnt really do with a 3/2 lift on a 4th gen 4runner. Would it be okay to lower it to the first perch with the eibach springs? Also would that soften the ride up at all?
I believe they recommend the bottom setting when using lift springs w/ these strut cartridges. That setting would reduce the preload, effectively softening your suspension. Hope this explanation helps.
I purchased the 112620 springs that are supposedly 1.6 inch lift for my 2018 4runner. I think the 1st lowest clip setting is recommended but I want to be 3+ inch higher. So can I move the clip higher to achieve my goal or should I leave it at its lowest setting and put on a spacer to achieve it. I don't want to damage the shocks prematurely if possible.
If you have the Bilstein 5100 series front shocks then you are safe to move it up ONE clip setting to achieve the 3'' of front end lift that you are wanting. Do not exceed that clip setting since you will have more likely of a chance of over extending your shock. Any questions feel free to give us a call!
Toytec Lifts is there a shock that is better than the 5100 that can handle 3-4 inch lift and adjustable like the 5100s? Also thanks for the reply you guys are awesome
@@toyteclifts6791 I have the Toytec lift kit with the 112620 coil and 5100 bilstein second notch as advised by your website and my upper control are is binding and popping according to my local Toyota dealership
Did you ever find out where to get a spring perch from? I have a new 5100 that needs one as well. I've sent Bilstein 2 emails & they have not returned any emails.
Love the knipex!
This helped a ton
What did you torque the top nut to?

Answered my own question....duh!! Of course the shock is already at full extension, have to compress the spring to expose enough threads.....
