Yosemite National Park Backpacking - A Lakes Weekend

- In this video I complete a 2 night backpacking loop North of HWY 120 in Yosemite National Park. This is a weekend loop from Andrew Skurka's Yosemite High Route. This route is called Lakes Weekend.
Day 1 - Start in Tuolumne Meadows, head North to McCabe Lake for the night.
Day 2 - Off trail on day 2 over Don't be a Smart Pass south towards Roosevelt Lake. Young Lakes for the night.
Day 3 - Back to Tuolumne Meadows.

I've been watching quite a few people get back into hiking, paddling, etc. and their reactions are similar to yours. Although they didn't talk about downing margaritas the week before lol
Are there bears in Yosemite ( I think there are) Do you ever carry bear bangers?
Thanks for watching! Yeah I don’t recommend margaritas as part of a backpacking fitness program. The Sierra Nevada mountain range/Yosemite does have black bears but not grizzlies. I don’t not carry any kind of bear thing, bells, bangers or spray. Just be smart with your food and yell at them if they get too close. They just turn around and typically could care less about you.
So….now that the border is open when are you and the old guy Joe going to adventure again? Great video by the way! 🙂

Thanks for watching! I sold the pack boat when I moved to CA. Too much to move and store. I do have two pack rafts and have next years plans to get those out.
@@BurleyOutdoors That’s sad to hear. I gave my canoe away years ago as I got to old to lift an 18 foot flat back aluminum canoe. I live next to Sonora Ca in Columbia. Love it here but miss my Minnesota fishing.
