Hi from Hawick! So glad you made it to the best town in the Borders for a visit 😉. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your adventures in our beautiful area x
Your new space is lovely with the view of bunnies plus no hill hiking anymore!! Thank you for inviting us along with you on such an unbelievable experience!🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰
I was a re-entry adult student, older than my RA by a few years. There was no other dorm for students like me. I couldn’t live the way I wanted to because of the underage students all around me. I would have loved to be around other older students. You are lucky in more than one way.
Living vicariously through you. Your adventures are so fun. Oh too be young again. Loved hearing about your colors.. And those sweaters!!! The colors are awesome and, I too, love the little frog prince! I've tried weaving and quilting, but love knitting, so looking forward to seeing your finished projects.❤
Hi Andrea, I guess I am what would be referred to as "advanced age", but I am just loving your videos! Love that a young person is so excited about knitting and weaving and all else. Your enthusiasm and spontaneity is so inspiring. By the way - I am live in South Africa. Enjoy your stay and the course!
Andrea I. Have just stumbled across your channel by chance and have binge watched 4 episodes already and would spend all day watching them but unfortunately that pesky necessity work is calling and I have to go. I love yarns and fabrics and although I don't do much with them I can never walk past a fabric\yarn shop without admiring their contents! Love your joyous upbeat presence here on YT. Obviously I have subscribed and Look forward to hearing of your ideas impressions and experiences. Thanks for pisting.
"None of these colors really go together" Reminds me of George Sarratt (spelling?). Sunday in the park with George. His paintings full of dots.....amazing
Hi over there, lol waving at you all the way from Ontario Canada ;) You are such a joy to watch. I'm so enjoying watching your journey of learning and your adventures! Hugs from afar, you go girl ;) Donna
Loved this video start to finish. Gorgeous yarns and I'm so envious of all your shopping finds. The knitting is so cool. That tweedy neutral yarn w color dots confetti is soooooo pretty knitted up. Sweaters... hhhhhhhmmmmm... in lurve
I'm living vicariously through you. This is something I would have loved to do. I'm 40 years older than you, so I'll pass. I was inspired and intrigued by your art book. I definitely want to invest into something similar. Thank you for sharing in so much detail.
We spent several weeks in Scotland (sadly too long ago) and absolutely loved it! Even though I have not one tiny bit of Scottish in my ancestry, I felt a bond with your amazing history, and, of course, with the amazing weaving I saw there.
I love your upbeat, colourful and yarn yummy videos Andrea! And how cool you went to Hawick, a place I used to visit as a child. If you want to see more textile history museums I recommend the National Wool Museum here in West Wales. This area has a rich history in the wool processing and weaving industry. I think you'd love it. Ps love the mug and your wooly finds! 😊
Yea! I was hoping to see a video of your adventures pop up! No disappointment at all OH WHAT A GREAT WINDOW VIEW!! ! Uhhhhh. That wasn’t a miracle that you found the exact swatch. Percy is adorable! What a sweet face. Ok those colors of the yarn and batts are SO New Orleans! I look forward to your final project with them.
I’m new to your channel and just loving all your vlogs, they are always interesting and fun. Love watching you weave and the garments you make are just fabulous. So inspiring and talented !💕💕💕
I have a friend in Colorado that raises alpacas for their wool. I crocheted her a baby llama from the yarn of one of her mamas. To say thank you she gave me hanks and hanks of alpaca. I need to get busy and ball them up. Your video inspired me to get in gear and pull out my swift and ball winder. Your sweaters are lovely. Especially love the frog 🐸 prince. The cup is so cute. It was a steal!
What an amazing friend to have!!! I’ve never actually worked with alpaca before and now I’m hooked. It’s such a wonderful fiber, and the animals are SO charming. I hope you have fun working with them 😄❤️👍
Well how amazing is this? Cobalt blue is my favourite colour, I've been a knitter for about 14 years and I found out my ancestry is from the Scottish highlands and Islands. The Isle of Skye tartan is all my favourite colours. Yowza!
Welcome home! It looks like your usual happy enthusiasm is well-placed for your current situation. I can think of no one who would appreciate this experience more!
Loved your first week there! The frog sweater is wonderful -- I screenshot it and sent the pic to my daughter who loves fashion and frogs. Looking forward to seeing you wearing it. I hope you'll get more videos of the weaving room with all the looms and equipment but maybe this time in operation. As a weaver, it always makes me happy to see weaving going on. So if you do any weaving, be sure to film some of it so we can see you in full creative flower. And also show us how you spin on that oddly shaped spindle you bought at the yarn festival.
Isn’t that sweater so funny?? I’ll definitely show the looms and equipment as I start using them! It will be a couple videos from now though, because the next few weeks of school were spent planning and designing and not yet actually weaving. But I’ll have several weeks of weaving ahead and I’m for sure going to show you everything 😄❤️👍
What a great week, I’m so jealous, so thanks for taking lots of video showing us around. When I went to University studying textile in any form just didn’t exist so even though I love most sorts of making with needles of some sort wether sewing, knitting, embroidery, X stitch, dyeing etc. I’ve had to figure it out on my own. Thankfully my grandmothers and 1 great grandmother started teaching me early so it’s stuck with me in one way or another all my life and has given me great joy. If I could have done things like you’re doing though I’d have been very intrigued and inspired. Thanks for sharing, how long do you get to stay there? 🙋🏼♀️
U poor thing… in ur last dorm I was honestly confused when u showed me ur window view because I knew exactly which dorm u were in (and that it was for first years …) I’m glad u could move tho!!❤
Yeahhh the whole thing was a big mixup, and I'm glad I moved while I still had the chance! The first floor of this building was for rugby, but the rest of the building was mostly masters students, which was much better for my wellbeing LOL
Hello Andrea! I'm curious what your plans are for a career after your textile schooling. I am nowhere near as brave as you for pursuing your true dreams in school.
You are so kind 🥺❤️ I’m honestly still trying to figure out what’s next for me! Next semester at FIT I have to do an internship as a part of my schooling, and I’m hoping that will help give me some clarity.
I just stumbled upon your channel, your year on another country sounds like great experience! Maybe you were talking about it, but what was your motivation for doing this? I can imagine it will expand the influences and knowledge for your training. Good luck ❤
Exactly! I just wanted to experience a new-to-me way of life, weaving technique, art school experience, environment.. I’m just soaking it all in 😄 Thank you for your kindness ❤️
Hey Girl 1st you are looking good. Scotland must agree with you. 2nd where is the photo of your cat????? It is so fine to grab a cut of tea and see the things you are up to.
How are you finding the weather in Scotland? Big change in the light from NYC! Hope you’re finding enough to do in your spare time and have been able to find some decent coffee.
I’m actually enjoying the weather a lot more than I thought I would 😂 that being said, we’re only now entering the colder months so we’ll see how my opinion changes. It’s so funny you mentioned coffee - you clearly know the struggle 😂😂😂
@@AndreaAlexander The issue with the weather is the lack of light at this time of the year. In NYC, you get much sunlight. Also, you will be used to having coffee on tap. It’s not easy to find decent coffee where you are just now. You have to make it yourself in your dorm. If you go into Edinburgh there are lots of places selling decent coffee. If you have time to visit the V&A in Dundee, there’s a good tartan exhibition on and good coffee . You will also find a lovely coffee bean shop with lots of accessories in Castle st in Dundee, not too far from the rail station. It’s worth a visit on a weekend and a nice train journey.
Hi Andrea, your place is fantastic! That St.Nicolas picture you have is signed in Ukrainian, do you have a Ukrainian heritage? 🙂 I love love looooove your videos - thank you for sharing your life and creative journey!
Andrea, I looked for the Hope and Confidence shawl pattern, and it doesn’t look anything like what you’re knitting-it has a buttonhole pattern throughout. Is it possible you’re knitting her Hitchhiker pattern??
Yes, that is the pattern I’m knitting - The buttonhole part of it starts at about the halfway point! 😄 If you check out my most recent TH-cam Short or head to my Instagram (@andreaalexanderart) you’ll see the finished piece 🎃
Oh, I found it on Instagram-it’s awesome! I think I’ll try knitting one for my daughter. And. The variegated yarn was perfect for it! (Thanks for responding.)
Anyone watching this please give this lady a thumbs up to help her channel grow she is super.
As a tartan designer and weaver, and the mom to 6 alpacas :), I'm glad you are having a WONDERFUL time! What a lovely week you're having.
Ahhh you sound like you’re living the dream!! I also love the thistle in your channel photo 😄
You are a delight❣️I am enjoying your journey…thank you for sharing bright shining enthusiasm with us…🌺💜🌺
I am so glad you brought the frog jumper. It was obviously waiting for you.
It felt meant to be!! 🐸

I’m so sorry you had that experience ❤️ It’s challenging in so many ways, which most people wouldn’t expect without actually experiencing it.
