  • “I joined MARSOC for the same reason I became a Marine-intense, determined people who aren’t afraid to win.”
    -Corporal, 3rd MSOB
    The Marine Corps is the nation’s expeditionary force, ready to respond to any crisis, anywhere. Marines have always fought our nation’s small wars, its irregular wars-the wars of the future. MARSOC Marines are Marines first, and they build on their Corps legacy: MARSOC operators go forward to win the war before it starts.
    MARSOC’S MISSION is to recruit, train, sustain, and deploy scalable, expeditionary forces worldwide to accomplish special operations missions assigned by U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). To accomplish that, MARSOC equips and trains Marines to succeed in austere conditions against a wide range of adversaries. MARSOC executes complex, distributed operations in uncertain environments, achieving silent success and strategic impact.
    MARSOC’S VISION is to be America’s force of choice to provide small lethal expeditionary teams for global special operations. With tight-knit teams of agile and adaptable operators, MARSOC will continue to punch well above its weight class.
    As of 2015, the Marine Special Operations Regiment, serving under the United States Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC), was renamed the Marine Raider Regiment. This change was implemented to better show that modern Marine special operations forces trace their lineage and heritage back to the WWII Raiders. Individual Marines of the Marine Raider Regiment are once again called Marine Raiders.

      It's actually kind of a bad joke. I think somewhere between 90-95% of the Rangers' operations over the last decade were night ops, whereas the Raiders in Afghanistan were doing a lot of daylight operations since they are partnered with Afghan forces.

      I mean, all special forces are great, and everyone who serves I look up to, and so I don't want to say stuff about em. SEALs are as highly trained, skilled, and capable as any other US Military special force, but the only reason the get so much fame is because of the Osama Bin Laden assassination, and a lot of them dont like the fame, but up until the mission became public, there werent as many movies, books, or talk about SEALs, so they all have goods and bads.

    One of my best friends served as a Marine Raider.
    Two (2) Purple Hearts (had two Humvees blown out from underneath him), Navy Cross and practically 100% PTSD.
    He is one helluva great guy, American Patriot, warrior, devoted husband and father.
    He never complains, and even with all he has been through, he is the most upstanding, squared away person I have ever met.
    I have several friends who served in various elite military units (e.g. Green Berets, SEAL's, Rangers, USAF Pararescue, DELTA FORCE, etc.), but my friend who was a USMC Raider is a completely different breed altogether.
    It is an honor to know him and call him "friend."
    I would hate to have him as an adversary.
    God Bless him and all the brave souls who serve America.
    This video reminds me of two (2) famous quotes by noted author George Orwell ("1984" and other):
    "We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm."
    "People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."
    (salute)

    Can someone explain to me the camo that the Raiders use? I always thought the USMC used MARPAT but the vid shows that some are using Woodland? Also, I haven't seen any US Marine uniforms having the U.S Flag on it so it was interesting to see the clips of some of the Raiders having it.
    I apologise for the questions. I love the USMC, just wish I could earn the right to live in the U.S to try to be a Marine. Thanks.

    • @visa6127
      @visa6127 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      One reason is that they typically work with the ANA(Afghan National Army), which used woodland, so that they can blend in with them. Secondly they do sometimes use MARPAT but they use camos that specifically fit their mission. And lastly MARSOC is apart of USSOCOM(United States Special Operations Command), so essentially since they're SOCOM special forces they can wear whatever the hell they want(because they're the cool kids), and set themselves apart from other groups.

      Hi Nick, real brief overview here - MARSOC/MARINE RAIDERS while under MCC /Marine Corps, but are assigned as part of US Special Operations Command /USSOCOM /also SEAL TEAMS /Army SP Forces/ etc fall under as well. Handling assignments/Operations directly from SOCOM. Marine RECON/FORCE RECON are different in that the operations are directly related in support of Marine Units and come from the Corps command operations/elements under the Bn./PLT MAGTF /MEF. Command elements . Basically RECON /F.RECON Are direct Marine elements handling Marine Ops. for THEIR Marines ( most of time , but other things "in support of" do occur ) MARSOC assigned under and gets the direction under/& directly from USSOCOM. Just a shortened version, Hope the info Helps. Semper Fi.

    • @augustustechnicus2800
      @augustustechnicus2800 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      As 2111 Corps pointed out. MARSOC is the USMC's element of USSOCOM/SOCOM, which was established back in the 1980s, but at the time the Corps felt it was better to retain its Force Recon under the Corps already preexisting MAGTF command structure and really had no interest in involving itself in SOCOM. However, this was reassessed following the 9/11 attacks and War on terror where MCSOCOM Detachment One was launched in 2003 serving as a precursor testing program to MARSOC and even mainly consisted of Marines from the 1st and 2nd Force Reconnaissance Companies. As previously mentioned, it was disbanded and officially succeeded by MARSOC's creation and activation in 2005-2006.

    • @Marksman5147
      @Marksman5147 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Nicholas Molinaro
      Recon is the Corps elite unit
      Recon Battallions conduct the special missions in support of their division and MAGTF
      Force Recon are the elite of recon and respond to Marine High Command and their respective MEF. Force conducts the direct action and more high intensity ops behind enemy lines parachuting or diving, they also do VBSS.
      MARSOC formed originally from recon, rather than being under the command of the Marine Corps, they're the Corps element of SOCOM so they get all the fancy gear cuz socom budget. They do DA missions and assist with local forces and do alot of assymetric warefare, they don't really do VBSS like force recon as SEALs would handle that for socom but they will go behind enemy lines same way recon does.
      Overall very similiar, slightly different end goals and different command structure, both are very hard to get into.

    • @JoeDevola99
      @JoeDevola99 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      All this is correct. But in laymens terms. A raider is not like the ones during ww2 . During the war against Japan those men were guerilla warfare killers. Period. In fact they were disbanded during the war. Today's raiders are very much similar to the Army Special forces. They are also trained by civilians DOD and cia to conduct counter terrorism, internal defense, intelligence gathering, training small indigenous forces in unconventional warfare or guerilla warfare. They are able to speak other languages and perform medical duties as needed. All this while supplanted behind enemy lines and while not being detected. They are highly skilled, critical skills operator with highly top secret clearance usually under the purview of the cia. They are trained in lock picking, safe cracking, interrogation techniques and are trained killers with their hands or even a pencil. And the list go on and on. It is a life style and not for those wanting leave and to go home. You have to be able to live over seas with indigenous peoples and blend in. An intelligence back ground helps and a person that can operate alone in hostile territory for long periods of time. And be able to be emotionally mature and able to think quickly and react accordingly. Usually requires a 115 asvab score and at least 4 years prior service in a force recon unit. Even then you probably will be turned down. Hope this helped you out.
