Thanks for the brainstorming session. I'm going to try brake cleaner, then write in the indentions with silver metallic sharpie, and after it dries spin it in a light scotchbrite to clean up the "outside the lines" mess.
I’m gonna steal this idea but I think I’ll use blue and red paint pens respectively for metric and SAE. Thank you for helping my already terrible vision lol.
You might want a coding scheme with multiple colors as in bands around the sockets with all metric having one color band which is blue for me. The other color would be from the last number of the size, 4 for a 14 millimeter socket for example and with a lot of people there are intrinsic and persistent associations of colors with numbers. Just get a set of color markers and write out the numbers from one to ten in the colors they bring to mind. So a socket with a base band that is blue would be a metric socket that is either 4, 14, or 24 millimeters. Now how to get the colors to stay on polished chrome sockets.
Love this I was thinking of buying a bright color spray can but this easier less mess over spray

That's awesome. Exactly what I need to do

Came out nice.
Great idea
Nice video. So far the easiest and cheapest way to do it.
Glad I did this every time I look for one.
Damn, I really need to add acetone to my shopping list.
Thanks for the idea and the video. I'm curious to know how well the polish has held up since your first painted them?
They have dirtied and faded a little but they are still much easier to read a couple years later.
Thanks for the feedback. I’ll be doing this to my tools this weekend!!!
@@StarkReality how bout now brother? i need to do this
A very worthwhile thing to do. My eyesight ain't getting any better. I used a paint pen.
Thanks for the video.
Glad it was helpful. Sometimes it is the small things that make a big difference.
I loved it
Wonder if I can do the same on chrome soccets
Yep. Chrome is easier. Use model paint and paper towel. Paint it on thick, and instantly wipe, let dry, and polish chrome with micro fiber. Viola.
dont forget to give em a wipe down in wd40 or something after!

Just any ole nail polish?
And I can just wipe the excess off with Acetone?
I would say yes any would work but stick with the most contrasting color you can.
I was hoping this would help but after doing this they are now all the same size...."Made in Taiwan"
It doesnt work
