There have only been 2 seasons so far. Those cover volumes 1-4 of the series and so far there are currently 7 volumes with more on the way. There has been already talk from the creator about a season 3, so we are definitely expecting more seasons in the future
This series has an uber dark tint to it. So it may not bumb you out all the time but I classify it as Horror and Thriller and Suspense. Its use of character death is quite potent at times. Its famous for just cutting the end theme or opening in favor of packing more content into its time slot so the openings and endings are used to great effect as well. I suggest the directors cut for S1 yes each episode is longer but I thought the flow was better as it groups the S1 episodes into pairs. Depending on how you stream that might work out better. As to the bonus content, it does have some but its not always obvious to those that saw the other version. I for one noticed more gore and maybe more fan service but not much else. S2 is insane its hard to hype the right amount because I only want to sing its praises. The movie for it is partial cannon... Re:Zero Frozen or Ice something is its title. I think its best to watch between seasons but ask people you trust about its spoiler level in doing so as I do not remember how much it spoiled. There's a very big event on the 20th so people are thinking it might be announced then. But more likely than season 3 would be another OVA like Frozen Bonds since they are gonna need more time for season 3 and probably shouldn't announce it so early.

Season 1 was great. But season 2 made Re:Zero my fave anime of all time. I would 100% recomend watching it! Just be warned that it is very psycological and shows a lot of gore.
Re: zero is my favourite since I decide to read this show Web Novel, The story is good and author writing skill is even better Author did plan to make this show for 11 Arc if I remember correctly, While anime season 1 cover Arc 1-3, season 2 did cover entire Arc 4 which hold a lot of content that barely able to put it in 25 episodes even missing some detail but it still got me hype even I did read all of it. Currently author is writing arc 7, and arc 5 and 6 also contain lot of content that it might fit an entire season for each arc and season 3 did confirm, So if they going to make anime til the end of arc 12 we would have around 10 season at most.

This show is gonna be eternal. The light novels are at maz halfway through the story and the anime is way behind the light novels. I would say 7 seasons or 8. We are currently in the waiting for season 3

@@nightmarei4431 I highly doubt there going to adapt 1 arc = 1 season its to much work and budget of 25 episodes i doubt next season is going to cover 1 arc since next arc is heavy action and dont need to include everything in arc 6 for it to make sense at all if anything be max up to 6 seasons any higher and may as well just do weekly adaptions of bunch of fillers in between and 6 seasons is already a f*ck ton and budget and work. 2 Arcs per season is better then 1 arc per season costs to much and would take least 15 min years for it to be completed since also have to factor in breaks other anime adaptions etc

Keep in mind that they also had ~30 minute episodes with no opening or ending for a large number of episodes in season 2 and still had to cut a bunch of content. I'm sure they'd prefer going back to episode lengths where they can have more ads on the broadcast again as opposed to trying to cram each arc into like 13 episodes. Of course they may opt to adapt it lazily but given white fox's track record so far I don't think they'd do that and in order to adapt each arc properly I think they need a full length season.
@@thebabycow Problem isn't the length the problem is the investment and time, like say they do 25 episodes per 1 Arc, that is over 225+ episodes and also a MINIMUM of 15+ years, this is WAY TO LONG to much time to much money to much investment into a none mainstream anime, problem with arc 4 is that there was to much mystery/talking etc because arc 4 is starting to re:zero that lays down basically everything about mystery of it and Subaru and Emilia relationship growth (even then they had to cut a lot of it out), Doing 25 episodes of arc 5 doesn't make to much sense because it's fast pace arc that has a lot of action and when comes to anime its A LOT shorter then it is written on paper even arc 6 has a lot of action in it that can be shorten etc scenes that don't need to be in anime. Example Subaru and Emilia talk before Otto smacking sense into Subaru was cut because it wasn't actually needed from anime stand point it served nothing or Garfiel vs Subaru was shorten because it wasn't needed for Subaru to have a broken face as long as the plot part of it got covered, same with reason to believe we didn't need to go super in depth with it as long as the plot got across with it. As long they stick to the plot of the series the main plot, like Subaru and Emilia relationship growth, the main parts of conversations, the main action parts the mystery aspect of re:zero that's all it matters to anime stand point. Subaru and Rem "romantic" relationships serves nothing to the series so they cut a lot of out because in the end it doesn't serve anything, it will be brought to light in arc 7 about how unhealthy it is but until then they cut most of it out because it serves nothing, Only thing with Subaru and Rem relationship is Subaru saying he put Rem in his heart as number 2 but that's it, anime stand point ....Subaru loves Emilia and that is what matters to the anime series because it's not about Rem as an example

Goddamn it!!!! Re:Zero is most definitely a character heavy show, with lots of dialogue and not much action. The world building is pretty good, and the characters are amazing. Each seeming to have their own personality, backstory, and life. Even a super small side character who tried to sell the Main character and apple
I might be a bit late to answer, but my rough estimate is that the anime is somewhere around 30% to 40% complete. The author has stated that there are 11 major arcs planned for the story (source material web novel is currently in arc 7) and the anime has covered the first 4 arcs in 2 seasons. 1 thru 3 were short, and 4 is the longest arc so far (season 2)

There's fucking TON of source material for this anime. From what I've heard, Arc 4 web novel (which season 2 covered) had the length of the 3 lord of the rings books.

In case you are still wondering, the story is not yet finished. Theres probably going to be a s3 eventually, but so far bothing has been said about it (that I know)
Season 2 has concluded, but this show has gotten quite the budget (at least since season 2), so expect upcoming seasons to be adapted. Probably a bit quicker than season 2 now that White Fox (presumably) are very confident with this IP.
The source is still coming out and ahead by a good season or 2 of content. S3 is probably coming like 2023 at earliest but I do not remember hearing a when for S3 yet.
So I'll give you some context on the studio behind the anime. White fix studios is a relevantly old studio and you may know them for some of their other works including Akame ga kill, The devil is a part timer, Goblin slayer, Cautious hero, Jormungand and Steins gate. Re:zero is very much the studio's pet project and they love working on it so much that s2 has no ad breaks which means they pretty much made 0 profit when it aired. I don't know how blu-ray/merchandise/licensing sales work but I can imagine that they didn't see much of a profit if at all. To be clear an anime is hugely expensive for a studio to say "no ad breaks" and is pretty much unheard of. I imagine that a season 3 will be produced by them but I would think some other projects will come first at a guess I imagine it will be around a 2 year wait which isn't unusual for an anime.
Nah, just in S1, but not overall. Spoilers from the novel: After her coma, Arc 7 Rem has more potential, so I expect her to improve instead of being obsessive with Subaru.
@@JiMmie_22 Thats the plan Tappei is doing, Author has already told us on twitter to fans that Arc 3 Rem is dead and was only a solution to Subaru problem and he even says he doesn't reuse his solutions to an arcs problem which was no body believing in him but rem, but i liked how he did it that it gave Subaru the strength to not give up on Emilia but also gave him additional problems for Subaru character like emotionally depending on her which makes him think he can't live without rem he cant move forward without rem and on psychology stand point his love is driven from her arc 3 self and not her as a character. Hell Subaru has obsession towards Rem by "claiming" her being extremely jealous and posessive towards her like some object and even Rem views herself as an object for Subaru to use considering she doesn't care about herself. But fans consider this healthy and loving which is just baffling to me. Even current Rem fans not don't like arc 7 Rem because she's not being "SuBaRu'S ReM"
Am I the only one that always gets a bit annoyed that every time someone watches "Realize" (the third one), it's always with the full credits scrolling across the screen? Just because it happened to show up for the first time at the end of the episode - even though every other time afterwards it's a nicer-looking credit-less OP - everyone had to grab this one and spam it everywhere so that it's now somehow the "definitive" version you get if you try to watch it online.

Obviously, it makes sense to jump on these things and not get left behind. Because of one single week promoting that opening when it was the only version availible, it's now settled upon as the default even though there's no real reason to watch it like that now.

BTW Arc 3 was longer than Arc 4 in the Light Novels. Arc 3 was gutted in the anime and it's worth a read

Season 2 has concluded, but this show has gotten quite the budget (at least since season 2), so expect upcoming seasons to be adapted. Probably a bit quicker than season 2 now that White Fox (presumably) are very confident with this IP.

So I'll give you some context on the studio behind the anime. White fix studios is a relevantly old studio and you may know them for some of their other works including Akame ga kill, The devil is a part timer, Goblin slayer, Cautious hero, Jormungand and Steins gate. Re:zero is very much the studio's pet project and they love working on it so much that s2 has no ad breaks which means they pretty much made 0 profit when it aired. I don't know how blu-ray/merchandise/licensing sales work but I can imagine that they didn't see much of a profit if at all. To be clear an anime is hugely expensive for a studio to say "no ad breaks" and is pretty much unheard of. I imagine that a season 3 will be produced by them but I would think some other projects will come first at a guess I imagine it will be around a 2 year wait which isn't unusual for an anime.
Studios make the majority of their money through merch, not ad breaks. Re:Zero sells a TON of merch, so it’ll be funded just fine.

After her coma, Arc 7 Rem has more potential, so I expect her to improve instead of being obsessive with Subaru.
@@JiMmie_22 Thats the plan Tappei is doing, Author has already told us on twitter to fans that Arc 3 Rem is dead and was only a solution to Subaru problem and he even says he doesn't reuse his solutions to an arcs problem which was no body believing in him but rem, but i liked how he did it that it gave Subaru the strength to not give up on Emilia but also gave him additional problems for Subaru character like emotionally depending on her which makes him think he can't live without rem he cant move forward without rem and on psychology stand point his love is driven from her arc 3 self and not her as a character.
Hell Subaru has obsession towards Rem by "claiming" her being extremely jealous and posessive towards her like some object and even Rem views herself as an object for Subaru to use considering she doesn't care about herself. But fans consider this healthy and loving which is just baffling to me.
Even current Rem fans not don't like arc 7 Rem because she's not being "SuBaRu'S ReM"

Am I the only one that always gets a bit annoyed that every time someone watches "Realize" (the third one), it's always with the full credits scrolling across the screen? Just because it happened to show up for the first time at the end of the episode - even though every other time afterwards it's a nicer-looking credit-less OP - everyone had to grab this one and spam it everywhere so that it's now somehow the "definitive" version you get if you try to watch it online.

@@BoomSentai Yeah, I know. I'm not blaming you. I'm blaming Crunchyroll and every other media site's "quick, the new op dropped! Get that shit up immediately!" attitude. Obviously, it makes sense to jump on these things and not get left behind. It's just irritating that you end up with - not just this, but non-ideal first examples of a lot of things - being proliferated. Because of one single week promoting that opening when it was the only version availible, it's now settled upon as the default even though there's no real reason to watch it like that now.
