Guitar virtuoso Guthrie Govan, drum powerhouse Marco Minneminn, and bass extraordinaire Bryan Bellar - collectively known as the Aristocratics - perform the Govan composition "Erotic Cakes" during one of their regular visits to Musicians Institute. This video was shot during a day of clinics with the band held at MI in January, 2012.

man i've watched those 3 seconds about 100 times and read your response and it still doesn't make sense. i know how to do false harmonics and that but i just don't get it. so he's doing a false harmonic with the side of his palm behind his pick?? totally confused!! haha
it's a cool trick, watch his right hand. with the flat side of his right hand, he's touching the strings similar to the way you would touch with your left hand fingers when making a harmonic. The left hand is doing fast pull-offs to pluck the strings. Turn up the gain and give it a shot :)
whereas usually the right hand does the picking, and the left hand touches the string to make harmonics, it is reversed in this instance. the side of his right hand lightly touches the string, and the left hand plucks the strings by doing pulloffs (which are plucks, right?).
