you forget about one critical thing here. You can compare interior exterior etc, but the reason why XC60 has so much bigger fuel consumption is caused by his weight, and its 20% more heavy to be... more safe. Volvo is much more safer care in case of incidents, and say what you want, but the reason why rich people are living longer, is beacuse they can afford to pay extra for safetyness

see, the canadian EV incentive site I think got retconned at some point. cause it used to be, that only trims below 60K CAD qualified for the incentive. and for the 450h+, that meant the base trim, which was VERY stripped down for a luxury SUV. I passed it over for the V60 recharge, for that reason.
but i look at the website now, and it doesn't specify trims for the 2022 NX450h+, just the model. and the 2023 450h+ isn't listed at all (edit: checking the lexus website, the 450h+ isn't listed for 2023 at all, perhaps cause i'm looking from ontario)... Similarly, the 2023 V60 also is listed by model name only, not differentiated by trim level, where the 2022 specified the exact trim... so governments gonna be shady...

However, the plugin version is qualified for the the rebate but the regular hybrid does not, correct? Thanks!

This nx450h+ is super quiet in electric mode but becomes a more than ordinary car when the petrol engine starts, it seems to me that it does not have enough soundproofing, which makes it very unpleasant and noisy when the petrol engine starts, especially on the highway, and that's where it's even more important to have a quiet car. I had, before this Lexus, a Mercedes diesel GLK 250 which was very very quiet compared to this supposedly quiet Lexus. I am very unsatisfied to have paid $92,000 for a supposedly silent SUV! Every year I do 3000KM twice with this device which makes an unacceptable noise! I'm really disappointed, Lexus has to adjust to what the customer wants, stop giving a fuck!

Toyota reliability in a large part comes from their policy of not updating the technology of their vehicles. It's a trade off that I prefer not to make. FYI: other manufacturers that do make an effort to continually update their vehicles get better at building reliability in the process. Last time I checked Toyota reliability is, on average 2% than their nearest competitors and really not that significant over most other than makes like BMW and Land Rover.

I do not believe the as Lexus NX 450h is in the same class as the Volvo, sorry. The Lexus is not as quiet, ride isn't as good, it just doesn't feel as solid as the Volvo. The Volvo, though not a three row SUV does not come off as a compact vehicle the Lexus does. We bought the Volvo XC60 Recharge. It has an EV only range of about 35 miles, this means that most of our kid shuttling is done in EV mode, I'll update and let you know the observed mpg. I am 51, I trust friends and family a lot more than manipulated statistics and when you say "superior reliability" of Toyota and Lexus; what I hear is "reliability is a little better because Toyota doesn't update their technology that often, but as a result you'll have a vehicle that is immediately outdated". Update we are averaging 68mpg with XC60 recharge. We only have 120v in our garage, it recharges in about 8 hours, so we charge it over night.

I closely looked into both vehicles and liked them both. I preferred the styling and performance features of the Volvo XC60 Recharge, but as a buy and hold long term guy, I preferred the reliability of the Lexus NX 450h, especially since this model is manufactured in Japan.
Ultimately for me, the decision came down to dealerships. The nearest Volvo dealership is 95 miles from my home; whereas, the Lexus dealership is 5 miles away. Consequently, I purchased the Lexus. I ordered it at MSRP in Dec 2021 and received it July 2022. Fortunately, I purchased it before the change in U.S. tax laws, and received the $7,500 tax credit when I filed my taxes. After one year, I remain quite pleased with the Lexus. Since nearly 95% of my driving is purely electric, its somewhat noisy gas engine, under acceleration, is both infrequent and tolerable.

Strange comparison. Those cars aren’t in the same class. Lexus thinks a bold styling is beautiful, I don’t (and there is a reason Lexus has really bad sales numbers here, just buy the RAV4 is price is your concern, otherwise just buy a premium car). The Volvo’s engine is a lot better on the long drive when your battery is depleted.
I compared the Volvo with the Mazda CX-60, but the petrol engine (2.5 4cyl) isn’t enough.
In the end I ordered a XC60 T6 recharge for my colleague and got a V60 T6 recharge for myself.
