  • We are thankful, blessed and happy to report that they removed the skin cancer on the first attempt and that surgery number two at the plastic surgeon also went well. She is already off pain meds and resting comfortably. Thank you all for the words of prayer and hope - it meant a lot. Please protect yourself from the sun at all times.

Ran across your video, was just diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma on two twin spots upper chest area. Now I have 1 confirmed in my scalp possible 2nd spot just below my hair line. Dermatologist wants to do Moh's procedure on the decent size cancer in my scalp and I am absolutely dreading it. Did you have Moh's or a different procedure when your cancer was removed from your scalp?. I live alone and have no friends or family here in AZ to help with any post-op. How hard was your recovery post-op? Any advise. I really appreciate that you shared your journey dealing with skin cancer and showing us what it's like going through the types of procedures you went through.

Awww I’m so sorry to hear. So grateful it’s squamous and not melanoma. I’ve had 7-8 MOHS on my head, face and one removed from my eyeball. I was able to care for myself after. I even went to work the 2 days later 😆. Tylenol, ice pack, and rest. My dermatologist had me take arnica pills, 3 pills, three times a day starting a week before surgery and I stayed on it for a good week after. It really, really helps with bruising and swelling-like miraculously!! I bought mine on Amazon. The pills are tiny, like a TicTac. The worst part is the numbing. I go to Arizona Dermatology on Cactus and Tatum in Paradise Valley and see Tirsa and Dr Ko-I work in transplant and refer all my patients to them-they’re amazing and Dr Kos surgical skills are top notch. I think you’ll do fantastic and agree the unknown is the scariest part. Tell the staff how you’re feeling, we appreciate knowing so we can help. Let me know if there’s anything else I can help with. Best of luck, you’ll do great.

@@WildlyGraceful I do have a question about your Moh's surgery. Did the surgeon perform removal of all margins in one day or did they send you home until they got the lab results? When I was in my medical coding training course, it was explained they kept removing margins until clear in same surgical day. I've heard lately some clinics do a "modified Mohs" where they remove margin to be examined at a lab and patients return at a later appointment. That seems more like a staged excision or modified version since they try to remove a little as possible in these types of procedures.

@@thisoldbag8336 all in one day. I have not heard of a multi day MOHS.
