I understand that when the body reflexively reacts to infection, it can go overboard. The brain communicates to the spleen's white-blood-cells to produce a TNF cytokine storm.. and if you block TNF (via TNF antibodies, 1493 molecule etc) you can quell the inflammation. However, I imagine if you are sick then TNF is a good thing.. it's only bad when it's there consistently (chronic low-grade inflammation), or over-reacting (ex. sepsis), or malfunctioning (auto-immune disorders).. So perhaps the time when Vagus nerve stimulation may *NOT* be advisable, would be when you're "normal" sick?
