      he used a green screen filter which removes the green color thus making him look redder, but he failed to adjust the "Key color spill reduction" level which would have normalized the hue.

      @@h7opolo I think more accurately what happened was the cameras auto white balance trying to compensate for all the green. Its why you should set it manually with a white card. Although this could have been fixed in post to some degree as well.

    This reminds me of a funny story my Dad told me from when he was a kid, around 1940. He and a friend both built tube AM Receiver/Transmitter in/on a cigar box that they could attach a telegraph key to. They lived in the same apartment building in The Bronx, on different floors with windows facing the same way. Well, they connected their radios together via a wire strung along the outside of the building and they discovered by messing around with the tuning and telegraph key, they could change radio stations on their parents' radios on a certain frequency, just like yours. Only problem was that their connecting wire acted as an antenna that was 30-40 feet long, and they were changing people's stations in the building and then some. Guess who came a knocking?? The FCC! When they saw it was 2 kids messing around with changing their parents radios and not realizing they were affecting much more than that, they got a lecture and made them disconnect the radios from each other!!
    BTW, glad I'm a fast listener!

    the very low power transmitters and home built receivers are really great! Low cost and also safe range ( so we can't interfere any other signals, radio stations etc.) but it is very satisfaying to build for its own something like this and having fun with it, exploring and observing really astonishing things!

    I've been thinking of making a radio transmitter for a guitar. Radiocomms are pretty dirty around here anyway what with a lot of people with less than legal homemade transmitters, so having a signal that will be readable within my neighborhood won't be a problem, so I might make an antenna of about 65cm possibly mounted along the strap to get some quality and get rid of some more noise.

    Felt a bit brief, I feel like this is transmission lines? I know it's similar property of the 1/4 wavelength rule you mentioned. But it looks at 1% of the length of the wavelength being propagated. Maybe these are two separate concepts and I need to Google it out.

  • @butteredbleach3265
    @butteredbleach3265 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The circuit diagram of the transmitter as me a bit confused. You have the Aref pin and the A0 pin connected with a 1k ohm resistor. Assuming no significant current is running in or out of the Aref pin, both pins would have the roughly the same voltage on them. Doesn't that mean that AnalogRead(A0) would always return somewhere around 1024? (I haven't seen the code on the Arduino yet, but I imagine this would be a problem as I'm guessing the A0 pin is being used to interpret the signal from the audio input)

    As an amateur radio operator, I thank you for not blasting out power or using a good antenna. I've got a long dipole antenna in my backyard, kind of thing that you would use for 1/2 wavelength AM or shortwave, and it's crazy how much interference I can see. Now of course it depends on the time of day, but because devices like this are so easy to build, it's very common to see crazy interference especially in populated areas. Now if you were to use heavier-duty components, more power input, and a 1/4 wave antenna I'd bet you could get some decent distance on that. But of course this would be bad and quite illegal like you said. It's actually very trivial to direction find even a moderately weak signal, but nothing nearly as weak as what you are putting out and it's not an issue anyway because you are not creating intentional interference and keeping your power output miniscule. Again thank you for your educational and fascinating content. I am glad you are back, keep it up!

    Oh damn, I definitely have to change some values in the code from 10 to 9khz because i don't live in Yankee land :P Other than that this AM transmitter is pretty straight forward and a really nice use of an Arduino. So i really don't need 10 meters of wire for the Antenna but just a short retractable FM antenna would work too? Because i really only need it for a short reception range.
