i love how simple this build is. its huge. its got a ton of pieces. but the engineering concepts are as basic as it gets. Thats what i like about this most. At first glance, its pretty overwhelming. But as you watch being built--- Thats why this should be an official set. Perfect in every way. Absolutely Brilliant. You outdid Lego.
Most historically accurate I’ve seen so far, and impressed how you got such graceful curves from Lego. Also shows even the imperial flagship look tiny, obviously hard to make a set that big. This would probably be 3-400$ US if it were a official set. Flush deck design also refreshing, seems Lego want to put a quarterdeck on even the tiniest sloop. Amazing.
I really love the strings the details of the ship even the proportions....just sitting here jealous.....wish I had one....to play with......43 yrs old......
Dang! You nailed EVERYTHING! From Bow to Stern, Port to starboard, and aloft! Everything from sails, masts, shrouds, Jibs, Bowsprit, wheel, anchor, cannons, and Capstan! I'm in awe! FANTASTIC JOB!
Wow. Just, WOW. You, sir, have once again gone above and beyond the expectations and hopes of all ship builders. The care, detail, and love that you put into every one of your MOCs, but this one... THIS ONE IS SO MUCH MORE!!! I want this ship in my life! I want this ship in my house! Thank you once again for sharing your amazing builds with us on TH-cam! -Colter
What I like the most is how she's built, all the techniques and solutions put in to this project and to make it what it is. And the finished product is just astonishing.
Easily my favorite Lego pirate ship moc I’ve seen. Doesn’t try to over impress with size, has realistic proportions, interesting build techniques, and the color palette is beauuuuuuutiful. Great job!
My god this is spot on I wish LEGO had this kind of appreciation for history. Looks thoroughly well researched, really appreciate the tiny details such as the slight in-sweep of the quarterdeck bulwarks, the ships bell, fore staysail *and* flying jib, and just the general proportions.
You have inspired me. Ive been inspired by this video because my love for lego mocs has been the same since forever and I've also loved the idea that you don't need instructions to make something as wonderful as what you have just created. Thank you.
This is amazing. I plan on using some of these tricks. Just getting back into the lego craze of my childhood and ordered the Imperial Flagship last week
As a naval architecture student i can say that this is the most well represented Lego sailing ship I've ever seen in my entire existence. I would pay big bucks for a kit that beautifully crafted and detailed. A+++++++++ This is the only Lego sailing ship model I've ever seen that doesn't look like some ridiculous toy! I cannot emphasize how astonished I am! I would really love to buy this kit from you. But since I'm in college I'm broke. When I get money I would like to buy this design off of you if possible. Once again amazing work!
Glad to hear that mate, thank you. Nah you can collect brick parts if all brick with you, you can build:) parts list is still on the description. And its for free.
"So the Pearl, any idea how to get her out?" "We shall need a crossbow, an hourglass, 3 goats, one of us must learn to play the trumpet while the other one goes like this. **waves fingers**" "I know a man with a goat!" "Good! I can go like this. **waves fingers**"
Over the years my time playing with Lego has faded even though it was probably the highlight of my childhood lol, but now I’m thinking of getting one of these and building it
i am almost done building this exact ship (minus the figure head which he doesn't list in the parts list) and it cost me around 700$ CDN (not including shipping) but I have almost all the pieces for a colour changed version (tan instead of dark tan and dark red instead of dark blue) and the colour change doesn't really affect the overall cost BUT if you don't mind longer shipping times and swapping out some parts for a cheaper similar one you can do it much cheaper. For instance the large flag at the back are hard to find, rarely in good condition, and very expensive but swap it with a more common one like the Jolly roger from the newest set and boom you save 15-20$ right there or if you want cheaper AND custom like say the French flag just buy a plain white one and ask a local graphic artist shop to make you the decals boom french flag for about 5$. Next try using what you got especially for filler parts for instance the arches in the hold are hidden so use any colour or mixture of them you have similarly the light bright orange headlight bricks that line the side are for the most part invisible so use whatever colour is available or even mix these as well. And lastly mine has custom laser printed and cut sails that look like them might actually be Lego and a complement of 20 marines so you could save a bunch of money there by making and pencil shading paper sail just like he has and buy cheaper minifigs and only a few. Another thing you can try is look around your area for people selling old sets or random boxes of Lego you can get these very cheap sometimes and would easily find most of these pieces that way.
@@janreagiert1131 you can get the parts list from Bricklink or Rebrickable he provides the instructions free and there are 4 more slower videos showing how to build this ship right here on youtube.....this is an even more beautiful ship when you are holding it and a fun build as well
This has got to… no, this is the coolest LEGO ship ever. So I broke out the old 6285 and the 6274 to create a moc and I’m so glad I stumbled across your work. If I may, I’d like to incorporate some of this ships designs into my own.
In the lego pirates of the carribean game it has a lego model of that tied to a dock. It looks so cool. If that guy does do this he could base it off of that one
I think HMS Duke of Kent is too large. It looks just so fat and bulky... Like being of not much more use in combat than a floating gun battery... Those first rate ships of the line like the HMS Victory still look somehow manoeuvrable and intimidating.
Nice build. Looks very 6th rate French indeed. May I suggest the Téméraire class 3rd (74 gun) rate ship of the line by the French navy as another project? It is still the most numerous class of capital ship ever built and a successful design overall.
Xenomorph Ben I’d be blown away if he did, especially if he get as far as to official lego production. An authentic-looking ship like this can really become popular among adults/teens if only more people knew about it.
Thanks for your kind words they are very appreciated. By the way, my POTC MOC is much larger now, I did a complete rebuild. It now is 6 feet by 19 feet!! I'm thinking of adding more for Brickworld Indy in March.

Also, This is the same ship class as HMS Surprise from Master and Commander, with basically a minor change to the paint scheme that would be a truly awesome build.
