Just saying kenneth murray has been doawgging everyone in practice all camp he's picked off every qb and has averaged 4 tackles each drive, I rly wouldn't sleep this yr ngl
I use defensive rankings to help my draft tremendously. Players stack TDs against weak teams. Worst median defensive schedule = most wins per player you draft. Chris Olave (Saints) has the following opportunities: #30 Falcons twice, #29 Panthers twice, #31 Commanders, #28 Broncos, #26 Chargers, #25 Rams, #23 Giants, and #22 Eagles. Only difficult matchups are #1 Browns, #4 Chiefs, and #8 Cowboys but that's well worth the weak teams. 10 wins, 3 losses, 4 middle. Meanwhile, Ja'Marr Chase (Bengals) has the following gauntlet: #1 Browns twice, #3 Steelers twice, #7 Ravens twice, #4 Chiefs, #5 Patriots, and #8 Cowboys for 9 total losses (over half the season). Sure you have the Chargers, Broncos, Panthers, and Titans Commanders, Giants, and Eagles to feast on, but 7-1-9 is a lot worse than say 10-3-4.
I get the reasoning behind having the Commanders low. Defense is so volatile, I am hoping for a bounce back for the Commanders. In 2019 our defense was terrible. In 2020 it was good (second best yards allowed per game and fourth least points allowed), then in 2021, it was bad, not top 20 in either category, then in 2022 it was good again finishing top 5 in both yards allowed and points allowed again, then last year it finished 31st and 32nd in those categories. Dan Quinn is the opposite of Del Rio in that Del Rio used vanilla fronts (very little stunts), but used fairly complex zone matching defenses in the secondary. Dan Quinn mixes up his fronts a lot and and will stunt and twists, but tends to call simpler coverages on the backend. Now that we don't have the DE's, Quinn's defense is probably a better fit for this defense. The stunts and twists may scheme up pressures for our meh DE's and we lost Kendall Fuller who smartest corner who was great in the zone matching scheme that had a lot of complex rules. One guy, I am much higher on than some Commanders fans is Emmanuel Forbes. I still think he is the Commanders most talented corner (not that competition is stellar) The amount of yards and TD's he gave up last year was terrible (like really bad), but he did flash his ball skills with a lot of pass defensed. He had 9 pass breakups on 60 targets which is a good number. Unfortunately he gave 39 completions on the 60 targets, 636 yards and 5 TD's. His PFF was bad but just normal bad (around a 50), it was just 1 point lower than Deonte Banks who people still seem high on and about the same grade that Derek Stingley had as a rookie, who bounced back after a tough rookie year to have a great year 2. No doubt a lot of Forbes bad play was him, but I don't think last year's staff did him any favors as they didn't protect him and in man coverage often drew the other team's top WR because St. Juste would sometimes play the slot and Fuller is a great zone corner and off man corner, but he ran a 4.53 forty coming out of college in 2015 and that was 2015 so he is probably a 4.6 guy at this point so if you put him on the other team's 1 in man coverage and the other team has a fast 1 WR, you had to use off man coverage where Kendall Fuller was actually pretty good. So Forbes got some tough matchups. Until he does it on the field, its more hope on my part but I haven't given up on him. Quan Martin may surprise some people at safety. Superstar--probably not, but Kamren Curl level player--I think that is definitely in the realm of possibility. Through OTA's, minicamp, and six training camp practices, Martin has been the best player in the secondary. Its true there are not a lot of proven good players in the secondary so in a pessimistic world that may just mean he ends up being an average starter, but there is also a world where in a league with 64 starting safeties, he ends up being a top 20 safety this upcoming season. That said no complaints about the Commanders ranking on this one because they were so bad last year. But I definitely have hope they far exceed that ranking. And because defense is volatile you can go from 32nd to 10th.
You need to watch some of Radiers mini camp we got the best defense in the west Bennett has beeen a stud in training camp he went up against Adams with pads on today and covered him great we have no weak spots on defense where set on defense where a top 5 defense all year
Because of the intense hatred of lamar, everything associated with lamar is degraded, I always add like five positions to any ranking because of the lamar factor. So ravens are at least #2
I see Philly being alot higher than 22. Even with it's weak linebacker core. The Best DC in Vic Fangio can make role players like Nakobe Dean and white play better. Also Jalen Carter will likely get more sacks behind better coverage

13:20 I think Carolina's offense is so bad that it negatively effects their defense. 4th in yards per game but 29th in points/game? I read that as teams didn't have to move the ball as much to score on average against Carolina. Doesn't help when they don't force any turnovers.
