The reason you want a burned edge is in case the rocking don't meet in the middle .25in instead of .50in or if for some reason you just wanted the top rocked it will look cleaner without a saw edge... that's why the bottom side face don't need to be burned... trust me I work at Johnson & Rhodes Bluestone com east branch ny. Burning, rocking and cutting in the mill is what I do all day 9h a day 6 days a week... cool to see how you need to work it on site... nice way to save a $ as long as you got the skill and ex rock in case you blow out a corner...lol people the cost is worth it leave it to the pros like this guy and myself those rocks are unforgiving and unless you do it a lot it can just look easy. Especially just one piece when you know that there's going to be a million more with it...

trim 800 , make sure you watch brick guy burning bluestone , you must burn the stone before you rock face .. a regular tree from the yard usually only has a torched face . if your doing a stoop you will want to rock face the sides as well ... must be torched first .... thanks for watching

sorry for the the delay , that is a chisel made specifically for rock facing ... a bit pricy , about 100.00 you will most likely find it at a masonry supply yard ... if there are any videos you would like me to make let me know ....

thank you for this video and tips. Can a rounded piece of bluestone be rocked? Say 32" x 2" after thermaled?
