The thing I did wrong was stripping the entire house back to bare plaster and floorboards after having some gas safety repairs and old gas fires removed. VERY bad for morale living in a house that looks derelict. Not much of a choice though, had to get the damp under control. When rooms get finished though there is a real sense of pride in rescuing a really old house with lots of original features intact, and the only bodge jobs are ones you allow to happen. Definitely not for most home purchasers, even worse if you have a family that has to live in it while you renovate.
Holy cow! This will be an adventure for sure! haha! Excited to see your progress! How fun!
