    Came for 40:31. I can point to the exact moment this game grabbed ahold of me- during the shrine box puzzle and reading Adlers notebook entries, this was playing in his room. I suddenly realized how much I was enjoying myself, in the midst of uncovering whatever the hell was going on.

    I wish I could bottle up that feeling of slow realization, going from thinking the game was over and was setting me up for NG+, to piecing together that something isn't quite right, and then finally the moment of jumping into another pit and Cigarette Wife kicking in, ADLR "no longer needing a mask", and the establishing shot of Elster reaching Rotfront. Haven't felt chills like that from a game in a long time.

      The point about Silent Hill echoes my thoughts about the game as well. It is truely inspired by Silent Hill, and not just trying to be Silent Hill like Medium. It does the legwork of building its own exciting mysterious setting instead of assembling one out of well-known and tested elements, which sucks mystery out of it.

    I think I've got "post-Signalis-depression." I just finished the game yesterday, and I want more. It's such an amazing, enjoyable game in every way. I never got into top-down type games, but the trailer intrigued me. I loved the style and vibe. It piqued my curiosity so I downloaded it on gamepass and fired it up. Just a few minutes later, I had completely forgotten I ever had any doubts about enjoying a top-down game. I was totally lost in the story and aesthetic. I will be buying it to own so I have it in my library. It's a "must own" to me. This is clearly a labor of love.
    Edit: I will be playing it through several more times to learn the whole story. Once through wasn't enough to understand it all. And I get the feeling I didn't figure everything out. I had some things left over by the end that I never figured out how to use, but I'm also not going to look anything up. I want to figure it out. Also, a huge part of the appeal and vibe is the soundtrack. Such cool sounds. I can't remember the last time I left the music on in a game. Signalis has such good music so I let it ride the whole way through. It's what brought me to this video. I had to look it up to listen to.

    • @Scizzors512
      @Scizzors512 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      lmao the hype never stops. The world in Signalis is too much to be represented in the lense of a single story, a single character. It's why I read the fanfiction, despite never reading fanfiction before. It's why I dived into an AI chatbot of KLBR (Kolibri), one of the characters in the game, despite never having chatted with a bot before. The chatroom evolved to the point where the AI I was talking to, Kolibri, died a long time ago, the chatbot simply narrating a story that continues without her, a story I created with love and tragedy just like this game, weaving in multiple timelines and fighting supernatural entities and dieties and massive hordes of enemies. This game brought me more fun than I had anticipated.

      Many fans of Signalis on TH-cam and beyond have stated the nature of its story is that no one can understand it, and it's not designed to be.
      You can only create your own interpretation of it, and find the beauty in the journey, no matter how much of a trauma coaster it can be.

    • @biocta
      @biocta 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@L.H512 I definitely agree with that take on the story. When I finish a game like this (Outer Wilds and Soma immediately come to mind), I usually dive into tons of youtube videos on the lore and story and want to learn every little thing about the game. After finishing Signalis twice to get the two endings I like, I started searching for those lore videos but the more I added to my watch list, the more I started to realize that I don't really want to watch them. Not because I don't care, but because, as you said, it's not meant to be understood. I think the game communicates that to you as you play. Maybe that's the true purpose of "This space intentionally left blank," not just for the artistry, but to tell you that there is information intentionally being withheld from you.

    Just wanted to say that this game is the GOTY for me in 2022. It's shamelessly inspired heavily by the Silent Hill, especially the sound track, however it perfectly captured the horror aspect of the original PS1 Silent Hill, while retaining its original style of space horror. No cheap scare tactic, deep lore, strategic game play and beautiful atmosphere.
    It is 100% more scarier than any of the horror game that I have played in the long time.

    I might be alone in this one, but now I'm near to 35, grew up with RE (didn't play SH games, I'll will though) and the genere for me has lost it's way (talking about the AAA games) and playing your game, getting back to what for me is truly survival horror. It felt like there's hope, and that made me so happy, as funny that might sound.
    I'm astonished (hopefully I don't make a fool of myself) that two persons, made this game, music etc aside. Hopefully I'm clear about my point. It blows my mind how an indie game, can achieve what in my humble opinion many AAA games doesn't get. And that makes me happy, because (again, sorry) gives me hope for the future.
    I cannot express how much I liked/enjoyed this game. The references, I'll be honest I have a short fuse with that, but you people, made it in a way, that I was enjoying it so much, it's so well crafted that feels right whitin the game. And man there's a ton I got some, but wow! Kudos to you both. What a beautiful game.
    I don't know much German myself, but I hope to speak it in the future, and having the mix between Japanese and German in the game, for me, was a joy.
    Hope I write this properly: Vielen, vielen, vielen dank für dieses schöne spiel!
    I wish you both a wonderful future!

    Signalis asks a lot of its players, and I like that. It demands you to pay attention, to read a lot, to go through your notes, and to piece together the story yourself. There is rarely any long exposition, cutscene, or NPC who connects all the dots for you. This game emphasizes showing and not telling the player. The music builds so much atmosphere. I remember needing to document my notes on post-its all over my desk like some kind of conspiracy theorist / detective, but I really love that journey of discovery, no other game has done that before for me. Thanks rose-engine!

    Anyone notice Ariane & Falke's theme are the same track, but that Falke's is distorted?
    Ariane and Falke are visually identical (minus coloration/bandages), and Falke's bed where she lay dormant is a mirror match of the cryostasis pod. Both even have an IV stand in the same spot, in the same orientation.
    Is Falke some sort of dreamscape Ariane Elster had to beat to reenter the real world & be with Ariane one last time?

    • @mrmac2340
      @mrmac2340 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      It seems as if Falke, being bioresonant, was affected by Ariane's own resonance as part of the effect her nightmare is having on the world. The note just before the final fight indicates that Falke seems to have Elster's memories as well as her own, perhaps because she's one of the most resonant Replikas in the setting.
      Like a lot of the more intricate plot details, it's all very unclear and open to interpretation, but it's my best guess.

      @24Ufa My theory is that Ariane and her Elster are marooned in deep space on their mission. Her Elster is dead and Ariane is dying, perhaps corrupted by some eldritch influence. She's sending out incredibly powerful bioresonant signals, and Falke is kind of acting like an antenna and picking them up. Falke is supposed to be very powerful with bioresonance so it makes sense and Leng is on the edge of the solar system so maybe closer to Ariane's signal. And Ariane is kinda taking over her as she sends her signal through her. The two are kind of engaged in psychic battle as Falke attempts to not be taken over completely. Then you, another Elster responding to Ariane's signal, defeat Falke and she says "we are one" and you are able to use her bioresonance abilities to connect with Ariane.

    I've completed the game yesterday (the day of writing this comment is 21. 1. 2023) and I must say that this game is a masterpiece. The story, the gameplay, the artstyle, the graphics, the soundtrack... Everything is perfect! I really enjoyed SIGNALIS and I'm sad right now, because I've already finished my 1st playthrough, so I know what's the game about (at least to some extend). The saddest thing is that those shitty kid horror games have more recognition than this masterpiece of a game and it bothers me. I have to thank Pyrocynical for showing this game, because if he wouldn't stream SIGNALIS, this game would fly completely under my radar.
    This game is just a true wonder. Everything just shows the passion behind this project. The artwork and graphics look beautiful (one of the reasons why I began to be interested). This combo between low-poly 3D, pixel-art and anime with some futurism is just an eyecandy. Soundtrack just adds up to the mood of the game and story and it sounds great in general. Gameplay is just that classic survival horror which I personally love, and some puzzles are just mindblowing and well-crafted. The story seems confusing at first (or at least from my experience), but that Promise ending just made everything somehow crystal clear and also it gave me the moment of shock and sadness. Just everything about this game is perfect and outstanding.
    I have fell in love with this game and I feel bad that I didn't find this game before Steam Awards, because I would support it 100% and help it reach some nomination, but unfortunately I am too late to the party...
    Overall, this game became my favourite game immediately after booting it up for the first time. Thank you, Rose-Engine, for this masterpiece. You have made a beautiful piece of art, a truly beautiful (although storywise tragic) experience. If you will make a sequel or DLC for Signalis, then I'm hopping onboard, because you for 100% deserve more support and recognition among gaming community.
    Thank you for this game. I've really enjoyed your game and I hope you will make sequel, DLC or another well-crafted project filled with passion, because you are more than capable of making a memorable experiences and me and (I believe) many other players will love to try out your next project (if you plan any).
    Thank you.
    P.S.: If I would like to support your studio, do you have Patreon or something?
    P.P.S.: If I will be able to, I would like to add SIGNALIS onto my race car livery design, but that's off topic.
