it satisfies me on some strange level, that the creators of peep show count super han's snake as a one off character

Hilarious how Sophie's dad blames Mark for Super Hans making Barney suck him off, even though he had nothing to do with it: "What makes you do these things, Mark?"
To be fair, Suoerhans said Mark initiated it when they were asking who he'd suck off in an earlier clip. Not being a knob but just noticed this for the first time.

@@Chris-jk8xk Mark talks about it earlier when they offer the contract to Barney. He says "He's not sucking you off, is he?", then Jeremy says "of course not" and Hans replies with "He probably would". That gets the idea rolling.
Matt's an excellent one off character as he's so normal. He's just a random extraverted Personal Trainer gym rat whose life happened to coincide with Mark and Jeremy's and as a result of a couple of trivial things he completely unknowingly becomes this huge arch-nemesis that needs to be dispatched. It's a similar idea to Mark's interactions with Jeff (who is arguably the most normal recurring character in the entire show, but to Mark he's this hugely antagonistic figure) but distilled into a single episode and taken further.
The fact Peep Show doesn't have any true villains but instead has human beings that Mark and Jeremy hate and turn into antagonists as a result of their own selfishness is a dynamic in Peep Show which really needed exploring more, and Matt is definitely an example of this.

I would count Jeff as a true "villain" of the series. Sitcoms in general don't really have full on villains, so I'd say it's suitable to call Jeff a villain of this show
Jeff isn't normal, he's full-blown wanker and would be considered so in any crowd, although there's plenty like him for him to find his crowd. Common isn't a synonym for normal.
@@Motorman-vp1gb I see Elena more as a devastating portrait of someone who's never had to develop either an interesting personality or a moral compass because of her exceptional good looks. She's so beautiful, she has both sexes falling at her feet, and it simply doesn't occur to her she's doing anything wrong, since hurting people has never had any adverse consequences for her, and probably won't again. Assuming Gail dumped her after the end of series six, she would immediately have found another girlfriend or boyfriend to sponge off. So, I suppose what I'm really getting at is that she's not a true villain, because she's too shallow and spoiled to know she's doing any damage.
This is the greatest show for anybody who ever thought moving to London would be a good idea.

my favourite one-off character has to be darryl. I love the way that as soon as Mark finds a friend who has similar interests and they get on well, but oh wait - he's a massive racist. haha

Having been the subject of bullying at school, I actually really empathise with Gog. Yes, the kebab scene is horrible, but he's only taking one bit of revenge for what must have been years of torment at Jeremy's hands (or, based on what we saw in the school reunion episode, at the hands of the main bully while Jez opportunistically joined in). Don't forget, he also gives him a lucrative job opportunity he turns out to be completely incapable of fulfilling. He definitely belongs, like so many others in this video, on the long, long list that is "innocent victims of Mark and Jez".
It amazes me that there are many people out there, friends included, who have never watched Peep Show.

My fav one off characters ever have to be Sophie's Mum and Dad, who can ever forget " Happy Birthday..Happy Birthday" as Sophie came down the stairs in some obvious weird family tradition, wearing a weird hat.
I love them more than any others, because Sophie's Dad, was exactly the same in every respect to my ex-wife's Fathe. Rich, country farm, same method of speaking , drank too much red wine , clothes, country shooting - and the biggest friggin arsehole I ever met in my life :)
