Congrats Dave! Nice buck! I used a Fred Bear recurve and Double XX-75 Easton arrows with a Wasp broadhead, back in 1974-75. Practiced with a small thumb release and a shooting tab. After the first year or two, my wife gave me a Fred Bear Polar LTD, 6-wheel compound....glass and maple limbs. Surprisingly, I still have that bow, though it has long since been retired, just like me....retired at 71 coming up in December! Had some great hunts while I was stationed at K. I. Sawyer but never took anything home (*even took that bow to Guam when stationed there; hunted wild boar in the boonies-85F to 90F degrees with 90+ per cent humidity, a 180 degree difference from U P hunting! Spent about 30-45 minutes checking for ticks when I got back from one of those hunts!) Back in the U P, I often spent more time encouraging a city-bred pal to go with me and subsequently offering up choice stands so he wouldn't lose interest. I was particular about my shots, wanted it to be 10-15 yrds/no string jumping and wanted it to be a buck. I had does so close I could spit on them but never could entice a buck to come so close. My family wasn't fond of venison and I didn't know anyone destitute enough to need the meat at the time, so I could afford to be choosy and wait. Also....my "brown-eyed" girl was not a fan of the deer urine, course this was long before Ronny Camaro's special aged brew! I used to tie a rag on a string, dash some urine on it, then tie to my boots and drag it behind as I walked in to the stand. I also use to crumple up then rub cedar and pine boughs against the outside of my hunting bibs in an effort to cover my scent. That was better than spilling urine on my bibs and smelling up the cab of my truck! Smell got worse the longer the heater ran in the cab! Good times in Someplace Special! Have a great season! I'm headed back to northern New Mexico in a couple weeks. Older two grandsons have drawn elk tags, so I may get the chance to take a stroll in the "hills/mountains" (8000-9000') in case they each get one and need some help bringing it out. Or.....I could just go along and wait at the truck, you know....take a snooze, look at the sky, check the wind, listen for loud booms, have a snack or maybe lunch....just enjoying the opportunity to be outside! Take care!
Great memories for sure Larry! You would probably cry if you drove through K.I. today. Some areas are kept up. Most of the housing is occupied and there are some businesses out there. The runway is now an airport and the golf course is still in use. But many of the buildings have been abandon since 94 when the base closed. So they look terrible. The Air Force was a great friend to the community.
Congrats on that buck Dave! I sure love your channel along with Camp Benny. I subscribe to probably 100 channels or so and you two yooper camps are by far my favorites! Keep up the great content, I always look forward to your new videos. Happy New Year!
Awesome!! Congratulations on a nice buck. Deer we’re moving by camp mainly the does Nice cool weather this past weekend. Once again congratulations on the buck thanks for taking us along
Depends what you are looking to do. Fall colors in the Copper Country, water falls in Alger county, bird hunting in Seney area, deer hunting in all the southern counties. Lots to do and a lot of campgrounds and rental cabins to do from.
The southern halve of the U.P., generally speaking, has a higher population of deer. Menominee, Delta and Dickenson are usually pretty good for deer. The Northern U.P. usually has a lot more snow and can be quite hard on the deer.
Geez, you must be nearin big bucks in yer bank account. Ronnie Camaro has to be payin you a ton fer all the commercials. We would just like to know a ton of what? Nice Buck der!
Awesome little buck. What's better is to see such a happy marriage. So cool to see two people enjoying life together in harmony.
You are so kind

That meat you ate? Is it famous Jerky meat?
Pretty famous or popular. Give them a try and let me know how it compares to Finnish meat sticks.
@@KnettersPracticalOutdoors We don't jerk off much here. Maybe some people jerking, but
I prefer my wife in kitchen.
Cross bow is not archery
I know what you're saying, but I do like my crossbows.
