  • So I acquired one of these lovely little powered mixers that had developed a small fault.
    Can we fix it?

      I may have answered this already but I got mine direct from 'Music Group Europe'. This is the UK end of Behringer. Their parts department was very helpful once I found them. Its a little herder these days but it's now called 'Music Tribe' i thing. try by going through here... community.musictribe.com/pages/create-new-ticket?type=spare%20parts&brand=Behringer

    That white part is a ceramic resistor, not a cap. on the PMP4000 that I'm currently working on they are 2x 51 ohm 5 watt in parallel.

      If you’d be so kind, I have a question. My band mate gave me his mixer (it’s the exact same make and model as that one in this video). Before giving it to me, he left it outside for at least two years, by the ocean, uncovered. It powers up, and all of the LEDs and fans work correctly. I found the ‘Standby’ button, so that’s not the issue. I tried all of the outputs, except for the speakON connector. But I was only able to get audio out of one of the monitor sends, briefly, then that stopped working. I only own powered speakers, so I was unable to try the speakON connectors to passive speakers). My question is, does this sound like it could be repaired? Or would you figure that it’s most likely too far gone because of all the rust and corrosion caused by it, being left outside, uncovered, in the salty, damp, ocean air?

      @@JeffoftheShout Plug headphones into the Phones/CTRL jack on the mixer and run it through its paces. If the sliders are toast, you'll hear all kinds of crackling and dropouts. You can try a cleaner/lubricant designed for potentiometers or you can cause more damage. Also check the jack contacts - RCA, XLR, and 1/4" - for pitting and corrosion. If they are damaged then it would probably take far more time and money to return it to operating condition for any use beyond just in your home.

    • @JeffoftheShout
      @JeffoftheShout ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Arcadecomponentscom, Oh, the 1/4 jacks definitely have some rust. But I’ll try plugging my studio headphones into the headphones/CTRL jack anyway. But my prediction is that there’s a good chance that there’ll be no sound at all, just like the mains out and monitors out (except for the monitor 2 send working briefly).
      This truly bums me out because it’s such a good looking mixer with so much functionality, if only it would’ve been taken care of properly.

    Dropping the amp didn't cause the 5w ceramic resistor to crack, the failure of the green 104j capacitor did this. I'm surprised the output transistor didn't burn up!

    I have a 3000power assisted behringer and problem Ihace is that while in use it cut out no sound at all everything all working it then started up again for few minuets then cut out completely no output at all . Any way you could advice me re fault or any spare part to replace.MAny thanks

    • @atv-c0m
      @atv-c0m  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hiya. Yes this is a problem I am familiar with. assuming that when you lose output it is the the speakers only? If the rest of the mixer functions are working in/out buses etc. Then what you’ll need to get hold of is the output stage amplifier itself. These are prone to death due to the main capacitors blowing. Have you opened her up? Check these caps, if the my are leaking or starting to bulge, you have your answer and these can usually be replaced quite easily and fairly cheap. Just make sure you get the same values and install in the correct orientation (+ -). The first port of call for parts for me is always Music Group Europe but the amp modules can be found on eBay but beware used ones or at least check the listing VERY carefully in case they units description is vague! I will see what I can track down and post as an additional rely. I hope this helps and thanks for stopping by 💪

    hello. just purchased a used PMH3000 (PMX3000) and its playback in the inputs are crackling and popping. I tried to clean out the input slots. any idea why it would be doing this?

    • @atv-c0m
      @atv-c0m  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Without sounding condescending. Have you checked that your output volume/gain on your device is not to high going into the desk. I know its a basic thing but those are the things that can be easily overlooked. If its not that, check your desk. Make sure that (if you're going into a standard channel) that the phantom power is not on. and maybe the FX loop gains are not to high. If none of that solves it, there is the horrible thought that the dsp (digital sound processor) for the FX is locked onto the output stage and is not functioning correctly. I have come across this a few times. One question. Did you purchase this new or used?

    • @atv-c0m
      @atv-c0m  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It sounds like the DSP module has died. This is a common fault on these mixers apparently. They are prone to overheating, don’t know why? The only fox is a new module, which you will either find in eBay or contact the ‘Behringer Tribe’ through ‘Music Group Europe’, for spare parts.

    • @atv-c0m
      @atv-c0m  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its sounds like a similar issue to the 6000. Do you get any extra heat on the console especially on the lower right quarter. If so, and with what you have said. The output stage has indeed blown. This is an unfortunate but common issue. You can obtain the output module from Music Group Europe or the Behringer 'Tribe@.

    I have a behringer mixer and mine gets a slight bit warm above the master faders again like you said about the power supplies so for anyone else that's normal if your behringer mixer is warm thete

    • @atv-c0m
      @atv-c0m  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there. Yes this is normal in these models and some other variants. Although the people I repaired this for only noticed after the issues. But by then they were always cautious about if it was going to blow again but it’s perfectly normal. So no need to worry. In newer models Behringer have solved or made it so this does not happen or at least is less noticeable.
      Many thanks for you message and keeping the conversation going. Be safe Aus
