    You sir are a legend! Being going through this with my engine at the minute. I have a 15p head on a 10p block. the head has 10p cam and rockers fitted with black top injectors.
    The cam is badly worn and needs changed. I’ve been struggling to find if I can definitely use 15p cam and rocker with the black tops. You’ve answered all my questions! Thank you!

      Thanks mate 😁 I’ve always wondered myself so decided to have a dig ha ha, glad it’s helped you, yea you’ll be better with the 15p cam too as just that little more fuel delivery and you can use whatever rocker shaft assembly you want as long as the lash is adjusted 👍 just one thing with putting the 15p head on a 10p engine is the combustion chamber in the piston is central on 10p pistons and is offset slightly on 15p pistons (due to injector angle difference), this isn’t really a problem as new pistons are mostly 15p style but cater for both but you can have a different sound to the engine on low revs, thanks for the feedback mate, appreciated 😁 cheers

    Absolutely brilliant. Thanks for the video so much conflicting opinions from the Facebook mechanic's, but now we know for sure.
    One more thing are these injectors rebuildable as delphi dont make them anymore.

      Thanks mate 😁 yea I really wanted to know for sure and thought I’d dig deeper. I know there is companies that do refurbish them and I’ve seen repair kits in a catalog on an Italian website but not sure if they are still available, I’ll do some more digging and do another video if I find anything as I want nozzle’s too 👍 thanks again for your support mate 😁 cheers

    Awsome video, when I was an apprentice I was in the pump room for a while, and we used to refurbish injectors (mechanical), but they were really basic compared to the TD5 ones🤔

      Ha ha Thanks mate 😁 we still mess with old injectors on old tractors and lister engines etc from time to time on the farm too mate 👍 I still really like old school mechanics to be honest 😁🔧 cheers 👍

    Interesting - thanks.
    Reason for the high voltage solenoids (around 80-90 volts I think) is probably to be able to deliver power efficiently. Say the injectors are 120 watts - at 12v that's 10 amps, needs heavy gauge wiring, but at 85v it's only around 1.5 amps so thinner wiring and lower losses. Also less heavy duty switching components required in the ECU itself.

      @CarJunkeez  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Are yes good point mate 👍 so they don’t have to have heavy cabling in the loom, reminds me of doing my solar panels in series for higher voltage and thinner gauge cable saving a fortune and more efficiency 😂

      No problem mate, thanks for watching 😃 to be honest if your injectors are still working ok then I’d just leave them as I know some have over 400k miles and still ok. It’s just handy to know how to fit nozzles to prepare some just incase 😃👍👍 cheers

    Is there a definite difference in 10p vs 15p cams? How would one go about telling the difference? I am in the process of rebuilding my td5 that has also been badly butchered with mixed injectors. Was wondering what cam I have as I found a good second hand unit, but not sure what it is now...Great video btw

    • @CarJunkeez
      @CarJunkeez  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks mate 😁. If you look at the front of the camshaft where the sprocket mounts there is a date and part number etched around the outside edge, you can just about see it even when it’s in the head but its tricky, another way of telling the difference is that a 15p tends to have a groove all the way around the second round section before the first valve lobe. The only difference between the 10p and 15p camshaft’s is the 15p has 1mm more lift on the injectors only, everything else is the same. You’re better off using a 15p but make sure you adjust the injector lash. 👍 cheers

    Is the difference between those injectors due to them being two different manufacturers, ie delphi or lucas?

    • @CarJunkeez
      @CarJunkeez  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think Delphi bought Lucas but you could be right as when they was a separate company that could possibly be the slight difference in injectors 👍 cheers
