This video should be titled: “Technical features for text captions, masking as it doesn't really compare the difference overall in the 2 softwares.
I was amazed as a Content Creator that started out using an OLD iphone how imovie that comes for FREE with them has most of these features except for features like the “wiggling” for text . AND is much more user friendly to use ! You can speed up not only animation but voice as well as slow it down. This seems sooo complicated and how much do they charge?
Heres the actual differences between the 2 softwares:
Adobe Premier Pro : Primarily use for video editing and assembling video clips. It is ideal for task like cutting & arranging footage, adding transitions, adjusting colors, and incorporating audio. While you can work with visual effects, it is not a specialized for creating complex animations or motion graphics compared to Adobes After Effects.
Adobe After Effects: Design for creating motion graphics, visual effects and complex animations. It offers advanced tools for composing, king, tracking and creating intricate visual effects. It is often the preferred choice .

Excellent overview and explanations as always!
I've never understood why Adobe refers to text kerning as tracking ... especially when they already refer to motion tracking as tracking.

Great video…a bit over my head right now. I’m a new creator here, but enjoy learning as I go. Videos like this help me know what’s out there! …I could have used tracking on some of my “callouts” in my last few videos…but I don’t have after effects.

Thanks Colin. I like using AE. I just used the roto brush compositing cats into my music video. These cats had backgrounds - AE's root brush is the only way I could have done this.

Thanks for the vid Colin. Do you have a video on exporting with a transparent background in AE that you mentioned in this video?

In AE, export to adobe media encoder, then change settings to Quicktime/H265 GoPro CineForm in RGB 16-Bit with the alpha box checked. It renders quicktime lightning fast.

What I want to know is what is the learning curve for a genius like Collin to fail four or five times in getting motion tracking to work properly in AE and have the wisdom to keep trying? If that happened to an AE noob like me, I would have serious questions whether I was attempting the impossible. And if you don't know the answer to THAT question, when do you finally embrace the meme "Stupidity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting it to turn out differently." Well, ..... maybe, maybe not. As it is I have a very intimidating learning curve in front of me just to get command of the AE basics. This was an excellent video, but 90% of what Collin was talking about were not the kind of things I would be sitting in Premiere and suddenly realize, "Oh, I should really go over to AE and parent a couple of null objects together so I could rip open the space/time continuum and peek inside some black holes to view the fourth dimension of reality." No...I don't think that would occur to me. Yet.

@@TheSpiv Great point. You don't get much deeper into the rabbit hole than when you're paid to work there. The trick in all of this is having a basic idea of where to go and what to do to achieve the vision I have in my head. I am reasonably competent at doing that in Premiere. But in AE I think I need a lot more experience and tutorials in using functions like parenting, repeaters, pre-comps and expressions. And by that I mean the "generic reasons" I would use those functions.....to do WHAT?

It doesn't, but it does love cache drive. Meaning if it isn't setup per the adobe guide, it could fill up an OS drive quickly. Using the three hard drive setup is a must for best performance. Or don't edit comps longer than 4-12 seconds, break them up. That's what I've learned over the years.
