This song is considered one of the greatest rock songs . In 1970 this was a revolutionary sound. DeepPurple inspired bands like Iron Maiden and Metallica and were among the heavy metal pioneers.

One of the pleasures of listening to Deep Purple is that numerous live versions of their songs exist, no two quite the same time, so you can listen and hear something new about a familiar song.

    Good reaction.
You must remember this is 1970, no computers, pure music, no high technologies.
Every musician in this band is a great performer.
Deep Purple is always on fire in stage, because every member challenge the others to play better.
In the studio they sound not so good.
I highly recommend to react to other tracks by Deep Purple like HIGHWAY STAR (live from MADE IN JAPAN album), also LAZY from the same album, and SPACE TRUCKIN'.
After that you can check SPEED KING (studio version), STRANGE KIND OF WOMAN and then BURN.
    Thanks for your reaction.

Robert Plant couldn't sing a well as Ian Gillan. Not sure why folks compare them, perhaps just because they are unfamiliar with Deep Purple.

Deep Purple raised to stardom, purely because of their individual virtuosity and insurmountable talent for live performances, despite disastrous band management … as opposed to Led Zeppelin, who individually weren’t (in my personal opinion, of course) as masterful instrumentalists, but had brilliant marketing and management team

  • @sicmuvva11

Yes it is a war protest song, Ian Gillan the vocalist was concidered the best in that era! Love it! Every member is a master of their instrument! They are the grandfathers of heavy rock/metal very under rated.

Viejos? Efectivamente 😅. Siguen vigentes hasta hoy. El nuevo álbum
= 1 , salió en julio de 2024...con el gran Ian Gillan de 79 años!!
El 17 de septiembre vienen a Chile 😊
    Simplemente, LOS ADORO!!
    Gracias por tu reacción ❤

"Made in Japan" is still the best live album by any band. Recorded during three concerts in Japan 1972. No overdubs, no corrections and the sound is just stellar. The version of Child in Time you just listened to was shorter than normal. Usually, the instrumental part is much longer.

It took me ages to accept that keyboards/synthesizers were actual instruments, as I always saw them as being artificial and programmed (I grew up with 80's pop, after all...). Rainbow Rising cured me of that (same school mate pointed that out to me weeks later... I did hate him for proving me wrong, though... ;P ).
The fun thing to remember is that this song was made when there were very little faking done, so the instruments were played live in the studio, and the vocals were also very real!

One of Iron Maiden’s main influences was the band UFO and guitarist Michael Schenker. Particularly their song “Doctor, Doctor” went into shaping Iron Maiden’s signature sound. They play it as their warmup song before EVERY show. Steve Harris has also named UFO’s song “Love To Love” as his favorite song.
