Professor Robert Winston awarded me my Undergraduate Degree in 2014 and all I remember from him was his constant telling of jokes through the ceremony (which was 3 hours long and painstakingly tiring). Genuinely such a nice guy!

In case it wasn't obvious, that was a joke. That's a pretty normal amount of time for LN2 to explode a 2 litre pop bottle. I've done this in undergrad physics lab (with a pop bottle under a cardboard box to contain shrapnel) and it can easily take longer if you use less LN2.
He had a fill line pretty low down on the bottle so it would take some time for liquid nitrogen boiling into a gas for the pressure to build up enough to blow.
Dr. Winston has great comedic delivery and works well with James. You can't tell how much he's exaggerating safety warnings.
