- Hi friends, I showed up in this video How to fix Grub error: no such partition Unknown File System.
Maybe, sometimes you are facing such a problem on your dual boot computer’s and laptop’s -
Like, "error : no such partition
Entering rescue mode
grub rescue
We've made a video before, for regarding this problem, but some users said that “Insmod Normal” command is not working, and again it's shows - “error : no such partition”. This error will appear if you forcefully deleted Ubuntu or Linux partition from your laptop’s or computer’s disk. well, don't worry, here’s the best solution for this grub error problem.

When I was typing bootrec/fixboot, it said access denied. I went on with the commands anyway. After I ran bootrec/scanos, it showed me one windows installation file. I followed the commands and selected the windows installation. It worked for me. Thanks a lot.
I did the exact same thing and it worked for me as well. Even I got access denied but I continued and it showed it had 1 Windows 10 installation in it. I booted it and it worked absolutely fine and I also recovered all my data in it.

Great vid saved from a reinstall of windows. I did get access denied after running the command bootrec /fixboot. But I kept going to the next steps and it worked. I also went through this process twice. The first time I selected the wrong partition and it didnt boot normally, just putting it out there that there doesn't seem to be an issue if you need to go through the process again and try with a different partition.

Usually Windows doesn't break at all. The common mistakes are in the boot flag and grub including a place where vmlinuz is put and removed. Another option is to install Linux somewhere - even on an external disk. With sudo update-grub a rescan happen and it's quite fast to figure out.

After the process the boot system did not find the OS, I selected the boot diagnose option in Windows Installation menu and it worked for me. Thanks for the video, love you so much.

I'd like to share my experience that I was facing the same issue. I tried the solution shown in the video but didn't work. I tried again, clicked on troubleshoot option and this time I selected "Startup Repair". It took some time then it restarted the laptop and boom! it worked out. My problem is resolved.

U have a corrupted windows installation media !!
The partition to be selected (and therefore the disk selected) is the one used by windows to store the rbm and boot records. This was created when windows was installed. Generally it is the partition 1 on disk 0.

thank :) 2023 It worked perfectly on HP Probook 4540S, I cloned the hhd to an ssd and it gave me this error. Despite the fact that the bootrec /fixboot appeared access denied, it still worked, continuing the procedure.

@@lesnoopy7160 thanks for helping but it did not solve my issue ,I have number of queries to ask u upon first of all I tried selecting all the disk partition that is 0,1 , 2,, which were mentioned there but at the last after the bootrec /scanos command it always says that founded one installation where in the above video is coming zero and asking me question then in terms of yes , no or all to add in the bootlist and saying the requested device can not be found on this device

If there is a windows that is displayed as 1 after scanos command, do not worry about adding that windows to boot list and type 'Y'. That works for me. Save lots of time!

I was expecting a linux tool method, nice to see a way exist for Windows users.
I am going to explain a very easy and silly solution to this problem which I found in a comment of a video on EasyTechs YT channel
This sol. will most certainly work for only those who did the same mistake as I did
which is:
I had dual booted my laptop with win 10 and MX LINUX, After around a month I realised that I don't use it.
So one fine day I decided to get rid of the linux from my system to free up some space and improve loading times.
To do so I simply opened the disk management tool and deleted the partition in which I installed the Linux and thought work is done.
But no. I should have deleted the grub as well because at the time of boot, Grub was trying to find out the linux partition, which I deleted and there was no way for me to boot into windows hence I was searching for solutions and almost all of them had the same steps which were in the end to finally use the bootrec /fixboot but in my case it said Access denied.
Now coming to the solution:
step 1 Reboot the system.
Step 2 Open Bios menu by pressing F2 or Del and if that doesn't work check what works for your pc/laptop producer.
Step 3 Look out for Boot menu in this page.
Step 4 Choose the windows version on the page.
You will now boot into your windows machine
but the work is not over yet, as If you don't remove the grub now also you will have to follow these steps everytime to boot in windows
To remove grub:
you can either watch a video which I have linked from
EF - Tech Made Simple, skip to 7:40 to remove grub th-cam.com/video/GycNpMZOQ88/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=EF-TechMadeSimple
I strongly recommend to follow the video but if you are a mad lad you can follow the steps which I write again these are from the video linked above and all respect fot that dude.
You can follow these steps:-
Step 1 Open windows powershell in admin mode
Step 2 Type Diskpart
Step 3 list volume
Step 4 select vol [The vol number in which your boot files/ grub is installed]
Now since this step is crucial I want you to give full attention while identifying the volume
To do so you can first open disk management and check which partition says Healthy(EFI partition) this is your volume note the size of this partition and select the vol which has equal size in powershell among all the volumes
If in disk management you don't see a partition with such tag look out for system reserved healthy space or similar check the above linked video to be more clear
After selecting the vol in step 4:
Step 5 assign letter=A:
if you have a drive with A assigned you can choose any character such as b c d e f g ......
After this step:
Step 6 Open task manager
Step 7 Choose File
Step 8 Click on Browse
Step 9 Choose the partition which you just created
Step 10 Open EFI
Step 11 Delete the os from there in my case it was linux you will have to delete the one you installed other than windows
Step 12 In powershell type remove letter=A or the char You used.
That's it
Reboot and hopefully you will be logged in like normal way you used to.

Tips for Lubuntu Users: Insert your Lubuntu Disc or USB to your computer, then after setting the priority to Disc Drive or USB in the BIOS restart your computer until the Installation Screen shows up. Select "Test/Check Disk for errors" then when a command prompt shows up, type in "exit" then you are now able to select your OS (for dual boot users) it works for me!
Wow man! you rock!! at first I choose Partition 2 (because I saw more GBs on it), didn't work, I rebooted and try again with Partition 1 and Voila!! Error fixed!! Thank you so much sir!!!

After installing Win7 theirs no option for command prompt.after installing Win7 went into Grub2 tried bootrec /fixboot but says Unknow command ’bootrec’ .I think this ten year old 1tb hard drive is totally courpted -like this for four days now,I think I will buy a new hard drive.

For all the users, I faced these problems and finally solution.
Problem 1: 8gb + Standard Windows Installation - Did not work
Problem 2: 8gb + Windows To Go - Did not work
Problem 3: 8gb + flashed using Microsoft media creation tool - Failed
Problem 4: 16gb + Flashed using Microsoft media creation tool - 🔥💯 WORKED
NOTE: if you get access denied in fixboot - don't worry - just follow next other commands and it will work surely.
