I got this Plate Tree recently, and for the money, it cannot be beaten. That said, I was able to make it extremely snug by 'shimming' it by putting (2) 1/2" washers in between the post and support frame (on the inside.) I was able to put each individual washer into the bolt hole position with a piece of sewing thread and once I fed the bolt through simply pull the thread out. Once tightened it, the upright post had absolutely zero play! just an fyi in case you wanted to snug yours up for a little over $1. Best of all, no one can even tell, since its sandwiched on the inside.
Cool buy man, im going to be building a gym soon, when i get my house. I appreciate the vids comparing products and showing how and what to purchase and why. It really helps to sift through the bullshit and learn from your experience. Appreciate it man.
I got the Rogue Vertical Plate Tree 2.0 and love it! It’s built solid like a tank, the parts are welded nicely and it doesn’t wobble whatsoever. Like typical Rogue, it didn’t go on sale during Matte Black Friday, but came as an option for 5 for $5 shipping, which I took advantage of. $178.50 is pricey, but a plate storage tree of this quality may well be worth it. The only design flaw is the nuts that stick out from the end of the bolts at the lowest tier, slightly limiting the amount of plates that can be loaded and potentially scratching them up.
Man, I thought Titan would have sent you the equipment for free. And even gave you some cash, your awesome reviews are going to be extremely beneficial for any company you endorse. Get that paper man!!!
Nicely detailed and fair as always. If that shaky post bugs you, it looks like you might be able to shim it by jamming some thick cardboard down both sides to tighten it.
Some people on reddit mentioned they had the same problem regarding tight plates, except it was for one of Rogue's barbells. They fixed it by gradually sanding away some of the powder coating, using very fine grit and mineral oil. Maybe this will help?
Ive had this weight tree for 6months now and mine was rock solid after assembly. Loaded up 900lbs+ on it and it doesn’t budge. Interesting issue with the sleeve tightness. It fits my old school York milled plates, Ivanko’s, and some generic bumper plates I have.
Brandon Campbell Diamond I know it’s been a while since you bought the tree and it wasn’t a huge expense, but Titan might try to compensate you for the issues you have.
Not bad. I actually picked my plate trees up second hand on craigslist one that has 5 posts the other has 4 posts. I think I only paid $40 for both of them and they're both extremely heavy duty. But I have come to the point where I have A LOT of plates and bumpers, so I've been considering getting the extension for my Titan Rack (kind of like the extension on your rogue rack) and putting all the plates I would need to squat/bench with on it just so everything isn't so cluttered.
Dunno ... fewer features are understandable on a lower-priced model, for example the lack of the feet option and the use of spray painting vs. powder coating, but indifferent quality control is another matter entirely.
Wow, that tight fit is a deal breaker for me.. So annoying having to forcefully get plates off the posts. That's not what you want in plate storage. Good review. :)
Brandon have you ever bought anything from Christian fitness factory and if so is their stuff better that Titan or rep fitness. I’m looking at their weight tree
I didn't see this review until after I ordered this. The customer service at titan is pretty frustrating, as I placed a backorder only for it to go in stock, then out of stock. And they didn't fill my order. Got it today after waiting almost 2 months. Meh. Its crappy, but it was only $115. Totally agree about the mast not being tight. Also, the wheels are pretty small and kind of soft, so its really hard to move on my stall mats. Harder and larger diameter wheels would be a plus for me. I'm seriously underwhelmed, but the rogue plate tree is double the delivered cost. Once I complete my garage gym, I'm likely to build a horizontal plate rack from wood and craigslist this hunk of junk
Did your olympic weights fit tight like the video? I’m looking to purchase but I don’t know if calibrated and Olympic bumper plates are the same thing?? Thanks
@@toritovlogz12 I've only had it a couple days. Seems good so far. Well, good for $115 delivered. I would say the titan tree is a good option if cost is the only factor. The rep fitness one looks better made, but it'll cost more once shipping is factored in.
That's the biggest design flaw in my opinion. You need the space to put on and take off weights easily. Especially those notoriously difficult to handle powerlifting plates. I mean do these manufacturers even lift? They don't get it.
Could you fit a washer in there to take up space and reduce the wobble? If that doesn't work, just wire wheel off the paint and lay a weld... Would never move again. Good chance to hone your welding skills.
Only worry for me would be what you said trying to get the plates on and off. No-one wants to spend alot of money on caled plates just to damage them on a tree. Not that it would do much damaged bit still.
Hey Brandon, I see that bolting bent crossmembers (like in this video) would flatten them out, but Im curious if that would be a problem in terms of strength and safety of the overall unit? Especially if they cross members of a power rack.
Brandon Campbell Diamond Brandon Campbell Diamond yeah because I got a some crossmembers that were a bit bent from shipping. I bolted my rack together and it all flattened out and looks good, but not sure if I should worry. & thanks for the response!
Hey Brandon I just bought my x-3 short rack from titan and I’m looking into plate storage. I’m stuck between buying the x-3 10 inch extension kit and using it for weight storage or just buying the titan storage tree. Knowing that you have used both, which one would you recommend ? Please I’d like to know what you think thanks on advanced ! :)
without that rigid, erect quality on the vertical member it really can be a bummer. on a serious note, from all the reviews ive looked thru id say most of the titan product problems are more or less cosmetic and not structural and i think im going to give them a shot. thanks for all your videos on this. yes im cheap.
Brandon Campbell Diamond im trying to talk myself into going cheap. ive seen other reviews that were nightmarish(alan thrall) with bent uprights missing pieces and pinholes that dont match in a level way. i hope they got better cuz free shipping is YUUUUGE!
Jeffery Lord i has a good experience with my x-3 rack, but that’s the price you pay for going with Titan. It’s 50/50 if your stuff shows up not messed up (or shows up at all). Personally it’s worth paying more for a better experience
I have had my X3 rack from titan for 2 weeks. I have no problem recommending. I definitely would go with rogue bumpers over titan’s. I have both and there is a big difference. Also, don’t go with a titan barbell. Otherwise, their rack is perfectly suitable
Do you think there's any amount of sanding you could do to the pegs in order to make the plates easier to get on or should someone with calibrated plates invest in a better weight tree.
Ιωαννης Βασιλειαδης I think it’s ok as long as you’re not lifting over 600lbs. However it costs as much if not more than the rogue OPB, which is a better bar anyways. Hope to have a barbell review out before Xmas.
That jamming the plates in sucks. I've heard that if you ever tried to mix barbells and plates from rogue and titan, sometimes they don't fit. I've never seen it personally but that would piss me off so bad. Maybe this was from when titan first came out, but makes me a little hesitant.
Do you plan on bolting the Rogue rack down if you lose the plate storage? If you could do a video racking the weights not bolted down. I'm still up in the air on getting RM-6 or RM-4 but I don't want to bolt it down so I'm a little worried about the RM-4.
StonedRambo01 I had a squat stand with the arms instead of a full rack due to ceiling height and I don't even have to worry about it not being bolted down. Racking 400 lbs rather violently for me has not even budged it. Everything Rogue is solid. Titan I feel like may rock. Just sharing my experience.
StonedRambo01 yea, no worries. I know it is a huge deal. I thought about it and researched a lot bc I was so worried about spending the money. So I know the struggle.
Thanks, hopefully I'll get to see it before I purchase. I'm only waiting on the 6 shooter plates to be back in stock before pulling the trigger. Might wait for the video though!
Would love to get a rogue system, but customs in the Philippines will tax 100% of whatever value im having shipped over. So ill be double for anything i order.
Hello, Do you think regular bumper plates will fit better on the weight posts of this weight tree? Or are calibrated plates the same size from the center.
us mail and ups and everyone who ships has poor shipping. There no reason a books package should come as beat up as his box. Not saying his box should have been beat up either
I think with most Titan products you can say thay they get the job done at an affordable price but there will be a few QC or cosmetic issues. Does it hold plates? Yes. Pow.
I gotta be real with you though, your reviews are what helped me make my decision to go Titan X3 over Rogue RML 3. Thank you for your honest and thorough reviews, you definitely saved me some money/enabled me to get more for my money for my own garage gym setup.
I found a way to get rid of that slight movement the upper part of the tree has. Place one of the washers on the inside of the tree base plate. It's good to go now!
If a vertical member isn't erect or rigid, I don't want it anywhere near me...
That’s great 😂😂😂
my man

I saw that, surprisingly this titan version comes with some rubber washers that protect that from happening.

Would be nice :)
I love my rogue weight tree, this looks nice too!
Def wish this one was more Rogue-ish!
I really appreciate all this Diamond. I’m working hard to build a home gym and you are the go to resource for price and quality. 😍
Glad to help :)
if you want to get rid of the wiggle, just get a 1" washer and tap it in the gap with a hammer
Good call!

Bradley Bromlow I’d expect nothing less of you Brad

Yeah think it just depends on what you want!
Wow, that tight fit is a deal breaker for me.. So annoying having to forcefully get plates off the posts. That's not what you want in plate storage.
Good review. :)
Luckily I showed you the clip of me struggling with the 25kg plates and not the ones of me not being able to get on the 1.25kg ones lol.
What I got out of this is that "everything about it sucks, but at least it can hold weight" lol you savage cabbage
I don't think it's bad, but there are some trade offs for the good price.
Put some washers inside the hole to pack it out and get a tighter grip. You could also pack the sides with something
Good point

I can't say I have.

I know this video is 2 years old by now but I really dig that shirt. Where can I find one? Or what brand is it?
It was a collab between A7 and LVD, was a one time run!

Sorry to hear that, I've never had any issues with their packaging.

I sold mine and just use the pegs on my rack. Wish they would release a weight tree with casters (ala rogue).

Hello, Do you think regular bumper plates will fit better on the weight posts of this weight tree? Or are calibrated plates the same size from the center.
Really depends on the center hole tolerance. You should be able to find it on the spec sheet for the bumpers you're looking at.
80 bucks not bad 👍🏽 is that with your discount or reg price?
It was for their black friday sale, normal price is $94
Is the vertical spacing between each weight post also 18.275" apart on center like for Rogue?
I would assume it's very close since they just clone
Horizontal or vertical which is better option for plate tree 🤔
I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understand your question.
