I grew up in the Twin Cities as the "Showtime Lakers" pretty much took up my teen years. I know they still play I Love LA after Dodger games. But to me, that song will always belong to the Showtime Lakers. Nothing like a big playoff game where the Lakers would rip off a run, usually instigated by the fast break, the other team would call a time out, que up this hit, go to commercial!! Predictable, simple, and oh so sweet.
I was going to say the same thing, I remember Jack Nicholson and Dyane Cannon standing up with the crowd and clapping to cool....I just watched this yesterday for the first time and I had tears in my eyes and saying to myself these are my Lakers. I started watching them in 1977m I was 7 and loves watching them play then Magic came along, Worthy, Cooper, Scott and the others came along and it was so cool to watch
Btw I don't watch them now I stopped watching or caring when LeFlopper joined the team, when he is gone and they start doing things to improve the team I will watch again
"That's It! End of the baalll gaammmee! Lakers are the wooorrrlld chaaammmpiionss! Agaaiiinnnn!!" Circa 1988 NBA Finals in Game 7.. - Lawrence Tanter, the current Lakers P.A. Announcer since 1982.
Great video. The one thing about Magic is that he was a power forward who happened to be able be the floor general. Magic could drive left or right & finish at the rim. He also could post up on either side of the block and do the same with a baby sky hook (left or right hand), finger rolls, and a drop step. That part of his game is very underrated and compensated for his lack of a jump shot. He also was a good free throw shooter. Not a great individual defender, but played great team defense.
Matthew Persad Crazy unique player. Maybe the most unique ever. You described him perfectly. It's kinda depressing that there my never be a player like that again, ever. I see some of his tendancies in LeBron, but the game is different now (not as frantic and loose as the 80s in transition). While 'Bron has that snap/relflex passing ability, it's only in spurts. Magic did it all game long seems like. Oh well. Hopefully Anthony Davis becomes the freak combo of Hakeem and Dirk I envisioned.
When Michael Jordan texts Stephen A Smith and tells him! You better not overlook Earvin "Magic" Johnson! As one of the Greatest Guards in the NBA! YOU BETTER DAMN WELL LISTEN! Juuust sayin.....🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️

You gotta make one for Kobe 💛💜
I feel like Kobe's personality doesn't fit the song. The song is fun, Kobe was a killer!
Give me another song that you think fits Kobe's personality.
BeaumontsBrainsOut just use this one for Kobe. Its perfect.
You need to make a Kobe tribute just like this one with the same song🙏
Hell yeah 🙏💯
