    I purchased a couple of Artem straps and chose an Omega deployant and Blancpain deployant respectively. When comparing them to my original Blancpain strap on my Fifty Fathoms I see little difference and am pleased that I could purchase a longer length from Artem, as my wrist size is 7.75". Alm in all , a very well made strap that I will purchase more of in the future.

    Thanks for showing the difference between the deployants. I do plan on getting an Artem, and now that you've shown the aesthetics of the variations it will help me choose.

    Yes, I shall be buying one when I get my Railmaster - hopefully before Xmas. I'll buy it with the Blancpain deployant clasp. Thank you, a very helpful review. Cheers 👍🏻👍🏻

    I bought a sailcloth look-a-like from zuludiver and am happy with it. It’s 30 pounds (don’t have a UK keyboard on my phone lol). It doesn’t have as intricate stitching as these since it is a PVC print product, but I’ve found it wears nice on my Sinn 856 UTC.

    I have the one with red stitching that I use with my SMP300 polar dial…looks great…I opted for deployant clasp because the watch is heavy and I don’t want it to fall accidentally…

    They look good. Glad to hear they come in odd 19 and 21mm sizes - a real shortcoming with Tropic.

    Great video. Thanks for making it. You inspired me to get ones these to replace a high end rubber strap on my old Kobold Endurance 2 chrono. It looks amazing and it is very comfortable. My only issue is the corners of the buckle are slightly sharp and dig into my wrist on occasion. I would buy it again just with one of the other deployments. Keep making the excellent videos. Cheers.

    I got an Artem for my Seiko Flightmaster. It really elevates the watch. Also practical because the Flighty is water resistant to 200m.

    If I am buying watches worth thousands (even $1k) one of these sailcloth straps are definitely worth it. If the watches price points are in the mid to high hundreds they are worth considering ... if the watches (ones purchase power) is in the low hundreds ($100-$300) then probably not worth the price point - you'd probably want something less expensive.

  • @private464
    @private464 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Bradystraps is CONSIDERABLY cheaper, while still being a good quality sailcloth strap.
    I have 2 of them and am happy with them. Artem is probably great, but too expensive.

    The Direnzo Eclipse looks fantastic on the Artem sail cloth strap. I find myself looking down at my wrist with the same watch on it, and thinking £70 seems acceptable. The 50 Fathoms on sail cloth is just iconic and who would not want to emulate that look?

  • @markbyrum4743

    My beef with sail cloth straps (typically) is how the buckle tears the hole after just a could of insertions. These look good to solve that problem. I like the deployant clasp as well. Good vid. Keep at it!

    Recently, I received two of these straps. Quality is high in the strap parts. The buckle is a bit inelegant. Needs time to break in but they look good and should wear very well especially in my hot climate.

      @@JusBThankful Thanks, glad you enjoy! I bought two straps both with plain pin buckles. Glad that they are rubber backed. My biggest concern is a stinky strap from sweat. I have seen sailcloth straps with a leather back which seems to negate the waterproof benefits. I wish all leather straps were rubber backed.
    I am looking to buy the Heuer 160th Anniversary Carrera re-issue and the first thing I will do is change the leather strap out for something waterproof.

    Looks pretty good. I was always contemplating the true water resistant nature of a sailstrap, however. I guess it depends on who's making them and how. But, the one area I worry about are:
    1) the holes for sizing the strap. They are perfectly sealed so no water can penetrate through the holes?
    2) the mixed use of leather with the sailcloth. In my mind, it seems like the leather will negate the WR nature of the sailcloth strap.. especially with those wear the backing or inside lining of the strap is obviously leather.. the only WR may only be on the outer surface. Get the strap wet enough or submerged, seems like the leather will get ruined regardless.. Unless they are somehow water resistant treated to withstand?

    • @brendanjones6764
      @brendanjones6764 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was under the impression that the backing material was rubber

    • @khronokraze
      @khronokraze 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brendanjones6764maybe this particular example. But, I think leather is in the middle. Still, with the holes for the sizing, it exposes the leather in the middle. Just curious if they actually treated or somehow sealed those holes to prevent water intrusion/absorbing.
      Most, I'd not all, other sailcloth strap examples I've owned and seen have leather and sailcloth only, no rubber.
