So yea, maybe Donald Trump failed to have a great relationship with Fred Trump, but if that was how Don Jr. grew up he probably had just as bad a relationship with his father as well. Adding on to the point that Trevor made about Don Jr. not getting enough love from his father (start at 4:34), MSNBC reported recently a story by 1 of Don Jr.'s college dorm mates about how 1 time Donald Trump called Don Jr. that he was coming to Don Jr.'s college to pick him up to go to a baseball game in NYC. When Donald Trump showed up to Don Jr.'s college, Don Jr. was wearing a New York Yankees Jersey, but after seeing his son like that Donald Trump slap his son so hard that Don Jr. fell down in front of his friends. Then Donald Trump told his son to get dressed in a suit then left the room waiting for Don Jr. to change. Regardless of how you feel about any news media outlet that isn't FOX News, this was confirmed by a friend/dorm mate of Don Jr. who saw it happen, and even if you want to argue that the guy was lying neither Donald Trump nor Don Jr. claimed on Twitter or any other news outlet that it was a fake news story/that he was lying. So yea, maybe Donald Trump failed to have a great relationship with Fred Trump, but if that was how Don Jr. grew up he probably had just as bad a relationship with his father as well. And I'm not defending Don Jr. for his actions, but it is sad to think that usually people want a better relationship with their children than they had with their own parents, yet Donald Trump couldn't even do that with his 1st son.
