  • David Easterbrook wires 2 Japanese black pines of about 12 years and a seedling that was sown in the fall of 2017.
    In this demo you'll learn how to define the front of your bonsai tree using the nebari root, the importance of a sacrificial branch and why you should keep or cut some branches on your pre-bonsai.
    These steps will dictate the future and the design of your bonsai for years to come!

    Great video, thank you for sharing your knowledge. I'll look through your videos but I'm really interested in the stage before this. If there was anything I need to know before I do the chop to reduce the height of a black pine?
    Cheers.

    Hi! Interesting video
    In your experience, what is the best time to remove a big sacrifice branch on Japanese black pine?

    • @BonsaiSociety
      @BonsaiSociety  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you judge that the trunk is thick enough for that particular tree. The best time of year would be at the end of October.

    Hi David - do you have any suggestions for reputable online suppliers to purchase black pine seeds?

    I have a question about the beautiful English oak you have. Do English oaks back bud? I have just gotten one and I don't want to kill it off by pruning it back quite a lot. Very few of the branches are useful as it's a yamadori.

    • @BonsaiSociety

      They do bud back to a certain extent. Not on very old wood.
