I was born in Ærøskøbing and rode that ferry a number of times when going back to visit family in the 70s and 80s - in those days the Great Belt bridges hadn't been built so going from America to Ærøskøbing involved flying to Copenhagen, taking a DSB train to Korsør, taking the big ferry to Nyborg, taking a bus to Svendborg, and finally taking the Ærøsund to the island, which was always my favorite part of the trip. Sad to see it go but happy it found a useful life after service.
At 2:11 it reminds me of that one scene from Titanic where Captain Smith is in the wheel house and then the windows break and the room starts rapidly filling with water.
Call me a sentimental ol' sod, but I kind of feel sorry for that vessel. She was in service for almost 40 years (1960-1999), sailing between Svendborg and Ærøskøbing. Imagine how many generations have sailed with her . . . 😲😐😢
I was there in a blue motor boat named Samos and my camera didnt wanna turn on right when it sank and even though its slow in the vid it sank rlly fast so i got some shacky pictures but nothing good and that was kind of sad
You do realise humans did this, to help nature, and you are saying "haha trash artificial ship thing nature the best"? I hope you realise how stupid you sound
It was scuttled as a recreational dive site, probably doubling as an artificial reef. And most of that traffic was probably boats there specifically to watch the scuttling.
@@Dracule0117 Good point. I actually had that exact thought come to mind as a second-guess but decided to just leave the comment up. I'm so used to scuttlings happening in deep water, and close-to-shore dive sites being shipwrecks.

Reason is that most Ships are scuttled by blowing up the Seachest (cooling Water Intake) in the Engine Room which usually is located at the Stern of a Ship.

76Schoeneberg30 So does sinking a ship: anything harmful to the environment is removed first. This allows it to become an artificial reef: a haven for marine life. As well, divers will want to visit, bringing in tourism money, and associated jobs.
Continuing on from Rico. All "Junk" (Which i think you mean seats and furniture) are removed leaving an almost empty husk of a ship. Also, The steel as Rico said will eventually become an artificial reef. Bye.
Unwatchable. Music is idiotic and constant cuts to different cameras is pointless. Why not just upload all camera views in full and then people can watch what they want.
so please why do we put our scrap again on the seabed :::::::::: creating reefs ::::::::: who broke the handles !!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Isn't it just cheap to dispose of scrap.

ja det gør lidt ondt at se hvordan de voldtog Ærøsundfærgen for fornøjelsens skyld! :-(
@@JohanChristensen_actually, they sunk it so it could become a home for fishes and a reef but I get you

Titanic, the best movie!
This is fascinating footage! It also shows how terrifying it would be to go down in a foundering ship.
Hear, hear! Also notice how fast she sinks towards the end. Ok, it's a relatively small vessel, but still . . . 😲
It isn't much fun. And yes, it has happened to me.
She was a great cruise ship! My wife and I did a Caribbean cruise on her about 1981 with 600 other guests. Good memories. Best cruise ever!
That's a small Car Ferry that couldn't even fit 600 People. Don't make Shit up.
Like why?
Pro tip: Watch with the volume off.
Pitas nana
Thank
Why the music is on tho
Not creepy sounds of ship

Ummm, why is it being scuttled in a high traffic bay area... seems like the worst place to scuttle a ship? Maybe take it out to deep waters?

Finally a ship that sinks from the bow
That videos so awesome

Don't ships sink mostly from the bow like look up the Britannic Titanic Olympic they always think from the bow no ship has sank from the stern idiot

What was this ship?
Probably a ferry.
It was a danish ferry, that was in service from 1960 to 1999... After that, it was docked for 16 years, before being sunk as an artificial reef.

Why the ship is sinking
harry bhullar Artificial reef/diving destination.
This is a former train ferry from Denmark.
what happened to the cameras later?
Of course, we picked up all the cameras again.

So....strap on some scuba gear and ride this sinking vessel to the bottom. That would be fun. :-)
What is the name of the ship that you sent me?
Gostaria de poder , transportar um desse pra terra firme e aproveitar ele, de alguma forma. É um grande desperdício afundar uma máquina dessas.

Wow best sink ever like there is no better way to sink a ship
There is something obscene about this . Like killing an old lady just for public entertainment .
Nah that's just the music, hang in there
No, It’s for artificial reef. It’s good for the environment believe it or not.
Look at it as the ship living on as a home for sea life instead of being broken up for scrap.
40 Year The Ship ! Sinking
Whats with these ship sinkings and the corny music
Whats with the supercuts
Just once I'd like to hear James Horner's "A Building Panic" with these videos.

There must be some sort of TH-cam rule somewhere stating that only the tone deaf are allowed to post videos of sinking ships.
